Burrows will be participating in the elite 11 on Monday and will be at OSU this weekend........

Burrows did not camp at OSU to get his offer........to me that tells me how much OSU was sold on him........

He is approaching 210 pounds right now........

Joey Burrow might not be a household name among Ohio State football fans, but that might be because news doesn’t travel nearly as fast in the Internet age as some people think it does.

Recruiting zealots seemed taken aback this week when Burrow, a quarterback from Athens, was offered a scholarship by Ohio State coach Urban Meyer and quickly committed to the 2015 class. Burrow could be joined by quarterback Torrance Gibson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., who said he won’t choose until after the season.

What riled some fans was a report after Burrow’s commitment that fast-rising California prospect Travis Waller said he held Ohio State in high regard and vice versa. But Waller hasn’t received an offer.

While some are asking how a hot shot from California could be passed over for a kid from Athens, the answer might not require deep thought: Meyer and offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Tom Herman probably decided Burrow was better, despite his three-star rating among the recruiting services. The coaches can’t comment until they receive a letter of intent, and the signing period doesn’t even open until February.

Burrow was named the Gatorade Ohio player of the year in 2013, has led Athens to two straight Division III regional finals and, although adept as a runner, has thrown for more than 7,000 yards and 94 touchdowns the past two seasons combined.
