Recruiting Update

Coach Meyer's momentum on the recruiting trail is continuing with the recent verbal commitment from highly rated offensive lineman Taylor Decker over the weekend. National Signing Day is just over two weeks away and Ohio State is looking to finish strong. Let’s breakdown the remaining targets for the 2012 class:

TARGETS


WR Joel Caleb: Caleb took an official visit to Ohio State and reportedly is high on Ohio State. Looks like his decision will come down to Virginia Tech or Ohio State. Rumblings Ohio State has cooled on Caleb and other rumblings they are visiting him this week.

WR Davonte Neal: Neal did make an official visit to Ohio State, that is about all that is known about the visit. A commitment is not forthcoming. I would expect Neal to take a few more additional visits before making a decision.

OL Kyle Dodson: Currently, committed to Wisconsin but recently took an official visit to Ohio State and has indicated he may take official visits to USC, Michigan and possibly Michigan State. I believe Ohio State lands Dodson on NLOI day.

DB Bam Bradley: “Bam†is a hard hitting safety prospect who seemed to be heading to Pittsburgh but with their recent staff change, Bradley took an official visit to Ohio State recently and has interest in Stanford. If he does not pass admissions at Stanford, I see him at Ohio State.

OL Jordan Diamond: I do not think the offer to O'Connor and verbal of Decker indicates Ohio State is not confident of landing Diamond. It illustrates the need for more talent of the offensive line and OSU will take Diamond regardless. NLOI decision or possibly after NLOI day.

OL Joey O’Connor: Received official offer on his vist this weekend but did not commit publicly. I would expect an announcement this week.

LB Dalton Santos: Plays a position of need for Ohio State. Did not take an official visit to Tennessee this weekend as scheduled but do not count out the Vols. Has a visit to Arkansas this week. If he makes his official visit, I think he ends up as a Buckeye.

LB Camren Williams: Returning to Ohio State this weekend on an unofficial visit with him mother and Buckeye target Armani Reeves. Most likely will take an official visit to Penn State on 1/27. I have Williams in this class.

DB Armani Reeves: Arriving for his official visit this weekend with Camren Williams. Suddenly, the secondary is thin and Reeves could contribute early at Ohio State. Most likely will take an official visit to Penn State on 1/27. I have Reeves in this class.

LB Jamal Marcus: Marcus will be taking an official visit to Ohio State this upcoming weekend. I think he stays in the south but I would not bet against Meyer.

LB David Perkins: Perkins was very impressed by his official visit to Ohio State this past weekend. The question is if Ohio State is as high on Perkins at this point. I think Perkins will take additional visits. Stay tuned.

DB De'Vante Harris: Harris is new to the list and just recently decomitted from Oklahoma. Could be near the top of the list with the recent changes in Ohio State's roster.

With just over three weeks remaining until NLOI day, situations can change and additional names can surface. It would not surprise me to see additional offers late in the process to some new names as Coach Meyer and staff get a feel for which way their current targets may possibly be leaning. In my opinion, numbers will not be an issue. I expect to see transfers in the near future.
