Should the Nationals shut down Strasburg?

    I agree.... 25 years ago this never would have happened. If you have the chance to win now, you seize it. But hey, if it makes it an easier road for the Reds to win the pennant, I'll take it!

    That being said, I think the National's success is due to more than just Strasburg. It has to be. Teams that that successful are not built around just one player. Just look at how the Reds have fared without Joey Votto. And it's especially true when that player is a pitcher who only goes out once every five games anyway. So, it'll be an impact, especially come the post season, but I don't think it's a guarantee to end their season. It's not like benching your quarterback in football.

    Time to put him on a low pitch count, go to a 6 man rotation, etc.

    They need him for the playoffs.

    Also keep in mind, Strasburg is not just very young but coming off of elbow surgery.

    Dumb move. This may be the best chance Washington has to win since the NL East isn't as strong this year as expected. You know Atlanta, Philly and Miami will make the necessary moves next season.
