DOMINIC KIRKS HAS DISCUSSED AN OFFICIAL VISIT WITH OSU
Ohio State may not be done adding to the 2024 class just yet. According to 247Sports, the Buckeyes have had dialogue with Ohio defensive lineman Dominic Kirks about an official visit, which would occur sometime in January if it occurs.

Kirks, a four-star defensive lineman rated the 251st-best prospect and the 33rd-ranked defensive lineman, according to the 247Sports’ composite rankings, has been committed to Washington since June 30. However, he did not sign in the Early Signing Period due to his position coach, Eric Schmidt, leaving Washington for the San Diego State defensive coordinator job. Kirks has also spoken with USC and Syracuse in addition to maintaining contact with Washington.

Kirks attended Ohio State’s game against Maryland earlier this season in October, but he has not received an official offer from the Buckeyes yet. Considering the Buckeyes only signed two defensive linemen in the 2024 cycle, and top defensive tackle transfer target Derrick Harmon returned to Michigan State, there’s certainly a need to add a talent like Kirks from Ohio State’s end.

Still, Kirks maintains it’s likely he will sign with Washington on National Signing Day on Dec. 7.

“I do realize Washington has been with me since Day 1,” Kirks told 247Sports. “I think it would be a lot to flip me. They have to show me they want me instead of just offering me this late in the process. I think that’s the biggest thing, showing you want me, how you’re going to use me and not it’s just Ohio State (or USC).”

    • With all of the recruiting news lately in can get lost in the mix, but this weekend is sure to be a big one as the Buckeyes will play host to 2024 Ohio native, Dominic Kirks. Starting his official visit soon, Kirks has been a name to watch in the recent weeks, as the Washington commit from Painesville, Ohio didn’t sign his LOI on signing day.
The No. 251 player nationally and 33rd best defensive lineman in the class per the 247Sports Composite, Kirks has been a topic of interest lately because of the fact that he’s of course an Ohio product, but also a guy the staff could try and land late to help with defensive line numbers in a smaller 2024 haul.

This weekend will be one to pay close attention to, because if an offer is finally extended, it may just be a matter of time before Ohio State lands another addition to their 2024 class.

Ohio State has one more 2024 target on its radar.

Four-star Ohio defensive end Dominic Kirks is expected to visit Columbus this weekend, and the timing couldn’t be better. Kirks had been committed to Washington since June 30, but has continued to explore his options in his recruitment and did not sign with the Huskies in the early signing period.

On Friday, Washington head coach Kalen DeBoer left the Huskies to be the successor to Nick Saban at Alabama, and a few hours later, Kirks officially decommitted from the Huskies the day he started his official visit in Columbus.

The two programs most connected to the 6-foot-4, 255-pound standout outside of Washington are OSU and USC, and this weekend will be crucial for both the Buckeyes and Kirks. While Kirks has visited OSU in the past, he hasn’t been officially offered by the Buckeyes as of yet.

Should Larry Johnson and other Ohio State staff members put on a full-court press for Kirks, landing him as the 21st commit in the 2024 class seems well within the realm of possibility.

This weekend will be Kirks’ first visit to Ohio State since Oct. 7, when he attended the school’s contest against Maryland. Per 247Sports’ composite rankings, Kirks is considered the 251st-ranked prospect and the 33rd-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle.

The Painesville resident had a magnificent senior season, racking up 86 tackles (17 for loss), 11 sacks, an interception and four pass deflections for Riverside High School.

Should OSU be successful in flipping the talented pass rusher, Kirks would become the third defensive lineman in the 2024 class, joining signees Eddrick Houston and Eric Mensah. He’d be eligible to sign with the Buckeyes on Feb. 7 and would be a summer enrollee.

FINISH OFF THE 2024 CLASS BY ADDING DOMINIC KIRKS
This one seems simple enough. Following his official visit to Columbus last weekend, the Buckeyes were comfortable enough to finally pull the trigger and offer four-star Ohio defensive end Dominic Kirks.

Kirks, considered the 251st-ranked prospect nationally and the 33rd-ranked defensive lineman in the 2024 cycle per 247Sports' composite rankings, decommitted from Washington right before starting his official visit in Columbus and is expected to sign on Feb. 7.

Where he'll sign is still to be determined, but right now all the momentum is trending toward Ohio State landing the in-state target. It's unclear if Kirks will take any further visits before deciding within the next three weeks, but considering OSU only signed two defensive linemen in the 2024 cycle, Kirks would be a welcome addition as the Buckeyes' 21st commitment in the class.
