DORIAN BREW REPORTEDLY POSTPONES HIS COMMITMENT
Five-star cornerback Dorian Brew has been scheduled to commit on Jan. 24 for about two weeks, yet the priority Ohio State target may postpone that decision, according to 247Sports’ Tom Loy.

Since announcing a commitment date – and, with it, a top five of Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Oregon and Texas – Brew has picked up offers from USC, Houston and Georgia. The Buckeyes are still likely the frontrunner for Brew at this point, but in light of the recent offers, the 6-foot-2, 185-pound cornerback wants to do a little more due diligence before shutting his recruitment down.

Maybe it seems a little odd that Brew has moved to the No. 1 overall spot considering OSU has three cornerbacks committed already, all of them top-10 prospects at their positions. But Brew is talented enough and has enough ties to the university that he remains a must-get prospect for the Buckeyes. Brew, the son of Donica Merriman, an Ohio State Athletics Hall of Famer in track and field, is an extremely versatile player and could play either cornerback or safety (or even offense) if the Buckeyes needed him to.

Though Brew postponed his original commitment date in January, the Buckeyes remain well-positioned to land him. Should Walton come through on yet another five-star defensive back commitment, OSU would have the No. 1 (Offord), No. 2 (Devin Sanchez), No. 4 (Brew) and No. 10 (Blake Woodby) ranked cornerbacks committed for 2025.

Five-star 2025 cornerback Dorian Brew told 247Sports he hopes to return to Columbus sometime this spring after visiting a handful of times this fall for gameday visits. Brew has visited LSU, Texas and USC recently and also hopes to visit Oregon sometime in the next six weeks.

"Ohio State, coach Tim Walton and the guys he coached," Brew told 247Sports of Ohio State. "He was an NFL DB coach, so he knows what he's doing. He played at Ohio State too."

There's been plenty of traction with Brew from other schools in the past month, especially Texas, leading to some in the recruiting industry speculating that Ohio State may not be as a consensus favorite for Brew as initially thought. A source close to the Buckeyes told Eleven Warriors this month that there's still plenty of optimism Brew eventually lands in Columbus, though. The Buckeye legacy is also expected to be back on campus sometime this spring for a visit.

According to Chad Simmons and Steve Wiltfong: LSU, Texas, and USC are running about pretty even at the top for 2025 five-star defensive back Dorian Brew with Ohio State still in the mix as well.
