GRAYES BEING PATIENT WITH DECISION, RECRUITING PROCESS
By now, many people expected that Kyion Grayes would have already welcomed himself into the fold as one of Ohio State’s receiver commits in the 2022 class.

But the four-star out of Chandler (Arizona) High School has not yet made that move. While I do believe he will wind up committing to the Buckeyes at some point soon, perhaps over the next month, Grayes has not solidified anything as he continues to be patient with his decision and the recruiting process.

“I still wanna wait a little,” Grayes told Eleven Warriors. “I know where my heart is. Just wanna make sure that it’s 100 (percent).”

Grayes told us that he hopes to make a visit to Ohio State at some point soon, but a plan for a visit has not yet been put into motion. Getting to Columbus before making a decision may not be as important for Grayes as it is for someone like 2021 target Raesjon Davis, but a trip to campus would still be a good next box for him to check off.

In the meantime, Grayes is continuing to mend a very minor ankle injury this offseason, but he expects to get back to training and on-field activities in the near future. When he does, he will be able to return to working on a skillset that mirrors that of one of the Buckeyes’ returning star players in Chris Olave.

Olave is perhaps the No. 1 player who Grayes looks up to, and he hopes to have a conversation with Olave some day soon in order to grasp a better knowledge of how to become a better receiver.

Grayes, the No. 312 overall player, No. 46 receiver and No. 3 player in Arizona, is one of the Buckeyes' priority receivers in the 2022 cycle in addition to players like Kojo Antwi, C.J. Williams and Kaleb Brown. Ohio State is most likely looking at taking three receivers in the class, though it's at least possible that number could wind up jumping to four.

    KYION GRAYES • 2022 WIDE RECEIVER • CHANDLER, ARIZ. • ★★★★
We've had four-star wide receiver Kyion Grayes on commitment watch for some time now, and that time may be nearing now that the Buckeyes have reached the offseason. Brian Hartline has been recruiting at an elite level and rarely misses when zeroing in on a target. Grayes has been a priority for the Buckeyes for several months now dating back to the time he was still a three-star and before the rest of the country had noticed.

When speaking about his recruitment, he's almost come off as someone who's already committed to Ohio State. But teams like Oregon, Penn State, and Texas remain in the running with this one. It appears that he'd like to take visits before deciding, but it wouldn't be a surprise if something were to go down prior to those trips taking place. At 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, the Chris Olave clone was listed as one of the top performers at last weekend's 7-on-7 tournament in Miami.

The biggest question here may be whether or not the staff prefers to meet him in person prior to any sort of commitment.

    GRAYES TO VISIT THIS MONTH
Chandler (Arizona) four-star receiver Kyion Grayes told Eleven Warriors two weeks ago that he knows where his heart is at in his college commitment but that he was remaining patient with his decision. He also told us back in mid-December that he was planning on trying to take a visit to Ohio State sometime in February before he ultimately came to that decision.

“I wanna visit in February or something or whenever they open up, and that’s when I’ll know for sure,” Grayes said. “But if that’s not possible, then that’s not possible and I’ll do it another time. Even if I just get to go up to the city and walk around, it’ll be the experience I need.”

Now, Grayes has a date set for his first-ever visit to Ohio State, as he confirmed with Eleven Warriors that he will be visiting on the weekend of Feb. 26-27, which was first reported by Buckeye Scoop's Mick Walker.

Grayes says the exact itinerary for the weekend trip is not yet known, but some of the potential plans are to head up and down High Street to see the restaurants and shops there, hit campus to check out the digs and, of course, take a look at the athletics facilities and The Shoe.

Grayes, the No. 312 overall player and No. 46 receiver in the nation, decommitted from Arizona in mid-December, and there was an immediate swell of momentum for him to eventually commit to the Buckeyes. I still love for them to eventually land the state of Arizona's No. 3 prospect in the 2022 class, and we will see if that last weekend in February is what gets the deal done.

Perhaps there will be some 2022 Ohio State commits who are able to join Grayes on the trip (in a similar fashion to the 2021 signees meeting Raesjon Davis on his recent trip to Columbus).

If so, that could help extend a relationship further between Grayes and the current members of Ohio State's 2022 cycle.

“I feel like it’s pretty good. We talk on a daily basis,” Grayes told us previously of his relationships with the Buckeyes' 2022 commits. “I’m in a group chat with all of them. They’re not even rushing me. They’re like, ‘whenever you’re ready, you’re in.’ So it just feels great. That’s one thing I like about them.”

Kyion Grayes sets visit to Columbus
The first visit to Ohio is scheduled for Chandler (Arizona) 2022 receiver Kyion Grayes. The No. 3-ranked prospect in Arizona will head to Columbus for a multi-day visit at the end of February.

“I think we’ll be there for like four days,” Grayes told Lettermen Row. “My mom and my dad are coming with me. It’s just about really getting a feel for the place.”

Ohio State has been considered the team to beat for the 6-foot-1, 175-pound Grayes since offering him in October. While other programs, especially Oregon, have been working to make it a tighter battle, there’s plenty of reason to think that if things go as expected on the trip to Ohio that a commitment could come shortly thereafter.

So this might sound weird or ungrateful but do we need another receiver right now? I feel we have more pressing needs like the secondary and both lines.

    GRAYES' VISIT STILL A GO
Just a small item of note here in that 2022 receiver target Kyion Grayes is still set to visit Columbus next weekend.

Grayes, a four-star wideout out of Chandler (Arizona), told Eleven Warriors on Feb. 2 of his plans to visit in the last weekend of February, and that visit is still a go. This will be Grayes' first-ever visit to Ohio State and Columbus, and I would bank on it being the cherry on top that will set his commitment to the Buckeyes in motion. I wouldn't necessarily be surprised if he silently commits during his visit and then announces soon afterward.

“Even if I just get to go up to the city and walk around, it’ll be the experience I need,” Grayes told us previously, later adding, “I know where my heart is. Just wanna make sure that it’s 100 (percent).”

Would be pretty neat for the five-star corner Johnson to commit to Michigan around the same time that his future adversary across from him commits to Ohio State. The two may find themselves matched up with each other in one-on-one coverage one day in a Big Ten bout.
