Friends & I have been discussing a fan theory that the Walker army is marching south because of Sam Jr. Gilly's baby who was supposed to be sacrificed to the walker's as part of the "peace treaty" so that the walker's don't kill them.

The return of the Others and buildup of the army of the dead started before Sam and Gilly were together. That's the reason the wildlings were desperate to get through the wall. But, the "Craster's sons are feed to the Others" story always felt unfinished and a bit of a plot hole to me, so maybe there's a tie-in somewhere later on
The most interesting thing for me is why the white walkers are coming...... What is the night king after? Who is he after?
Well, according to the show (the books haven't gotten this far), the Children of the Forest (the elf things) created the White Walkers to kill the First Men. So, the simplest explanation is that the White Walkers and their army are programmed for their original purpose which is just to indiscriminately kill all men for no real purpose. That simple explanation is a little disappointing though. I hope there's something better than the generic "zombies are coming to get us" trope. I think they've give the Night King too much attention for him not to be a thoughtless killing machine.

That is all true but there has been an interview with the night king actor and he indicated he is actually targeting a certain character.
