The thought of LBJ at the 'Shoe reminded me of a "what if" post I made three years ago about LeBron playing Ohio State football as a 18-19 year old. Now THAT could have been something special. Instead I'll just be grateful if he supports the Bucks with an appearance this Saturday night.

 

Oh wait...So we could have potentially seen:

Look, I know this Virginia Tech team probably more than anyone here...I've watched nearly every game of theirs the last 4 years...as some of you know, I was a student there (graduated a few months ago).

This VT team is not very good. The QB transfer will definitely help, but overall this should not be a difficult win for us.

OSU Offense vs Virginia Tech Defense

Virginia Tech has a talented, but very young and inexperienced dline. Maddy is the only tenured guy and he is a monster. We may want to consider double teaming him. Va Tech's LB core is weak. We should be able to run all over them. Where we'll be tested is in the passing game. Yes, Va Tech lost the older Fuller to the NFL, but the younger one is honestly better. Facyson was an interception leader last season. The secondary is very good and I'm a little worried about our WRs getting open.

OSU Defense vs Virginia Tech Offense

Va Tech has absolutely no running game. None. There is no reason they should average 3 YPC on us. Our DL should have a field day. The QB has a little mobility but that is it. I don't know too much about the QB since he's a transfer but he did look pretty good against FCS William & Mary. Va Tech has a couple talented/speedy WRs that could give our secondary a little trouble.

Special Teams

Listen, I know everyone loves to talk about Beamerball. But Beamerball is dead and has been a myth for years now. Virginia Tech has done little to nothing on special teams the last few years. Honestly, special teams is a clear advantage for us.

At the end of the day, this game will be a good test for our passing game - offensively and defensively. But the ground game will be utter domination. No reason to lose this game, especially since it's at home.

Wearing the Pro Combat uni's this week.

 

Man does it pay to be a high school football coach. Every home game OSU gives away allotted tickets, for big games like Saturday its head coaches only. Yesterday we got an email saying it is now open to assistant coaches. This is how i got my Indiana tickets last year, so i give them a call at 7 (when you can call) first call fail, hang up call again get through and BOOM free tickets to Saturdays game at 7:01. Last year the seats where in 15 AA and we to sit with parent players and such, they were amazing seats. I hoping that wont change haha.....This is how I've been all morning

Urban said today that McMillian will get meaningful reps this weekend against Va Tech...

Said he's earned it...

Also said that Heuerman isn't completely healed yet so he'll be limited, but the plan is to get him to 100% for B1G season...Baugh is suspended for one more game, so Hubbard is at TE for at-least one more week, and maybe longer...He loves Hubbards frame and thinks that he will grow out of OLB and into a TE....

I think WDE would be a nice spot for Hubbard too if TE doesn't work out...I think he could be as good as Nate Williams was early in his career before he battled injuries...

 

I like our chances, in fact, I am not worried. Their D will play tough, always do. I look for Herman to open it up. He couldn't last week cause of the Oline have trouble with Navy, but they made adjustments and finished the job.

The O-Zone says Ohio State will be wearing their "rivalry" helmets but no word on jerseys? I find that odd. Anyone think there's a chance we could see a jersey that looks like THIS????? And what would your opinion be?

Black under the lights + chrome rivalry helmets = sportsgasm in my humble opinion.

Not thanks... It'd be tough to get the Ohio State fan base behind a black jersey.

All black is awesome, I just don't see it fitting with us. Looks like a Louisville uni.
