    SET THE BAR HIGH
St. Louis Cardinal Ritter Prep four-star wide receiver Jameson Williams was among the seven official visitors at Ohio State last weekend, which only solidified the Buckeyes’ standing at the top of his list.

“I loved it,” Williams told Eleven Warriors after his 7-on-7 team was eliminated from The Opening Finals. “I had some great moments with the team and staff.”

The 6-foot-2, 162-pound Williams has built a strong relationship with Meyer, offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Ryan Day and wide receivers coach Zach Smith over the last year. During his visit, he went bowling with some of the current players and attended a pool party at Meyer’s house, which featured animals from the Columbus Zoo like baby cheetahs and penguins

“They treat me like the best thing,” Williams said. “If I choose Ohio State, I feel like those coaches would be father figures to me and help me to try to get to where I want to go.”

That said, Williams doesn’t feel like he’s particularly close to a decision. He’s also considering Alabama, Nebraska, Oregon and UCLA, and will simply set an announcement date whenever the time feels right — with a commitment video to soon follow.

“I’m looking for a great environment outside of football,” Williams said. “Ohio State is the team to beat, though. I’ve been there five times and the visits have just gotten better each time.”

The Buckeyes also have made Williams’ parents a priority, and the two sides talk regularly about life on and off the field in Columbus.

“Their connections with the staff are just as important as mine,” Williams said.

Williams and fellow St. Louis four-star wide receiver Marcus Washington, who is also on of Ohio State’s top targets at the position, hung out with five-star pledge Garrett Wilson during this week’s festivities. He was recruiting them both pretty heavily this week.

“He wants me to come to Ohio State bad,” Williams said. “He’s just telling me that’s where I need to be, with him. He said he’s selfish and wants the ball, but he also wants the best players to be with him so we can all be dawgs together. Go win a natty [national title].”

    SPEED RACER
When you turn on his highlight tape, the first thing you notice about St. Louis Cardinal Ritter College Prep four-star wide receiver Jameson Williams is his speed.

He is, after all, a track star who won the state championship this spring in the grueling 400-meter dash and the 300-meter intermediate hurdles — which run back-to-back on the schedule. His best time in the latter event is a time of 37.28 seconds, which broke the state record set by former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott.

With that said, it’s easy to see why Williams the Buckeyes’ top target at the wide receiver position. The staff believes he would be a great complementary piece to five-star commit Garrett Wilson, seemingly reminiscent of the Santonio Holmes and Ted Ginn Jr. combination of yesteryear.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pound Williams included Ohio State in his Top 5 back in early June alongside Alabama, Nebraska, Oregon and UCLA and took an official visit to Columbus just a few weeks later. He subsequently called the Buckeyes the team to beat in his recruitment during The Opening Finals in Dallas.

“They treat me like the best thing,” Williams told Eleven Warriors. “If I choose Ohio State, I feel like those coaches would be father figures to me and help me to try to get to where I want to go.”

Williams — who caught 36 passes for 1,062 yards and scored 19 total touchdowns last season (three kick returns and one interception return) — is in no hurry to make a decision on his future as he readies for his senior year. He’s confident he can lead the Lions to the state championship this fall, too.

“I've had the confidence. It's always in me,” Williams told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, which named him the third-best player in the state as part of its Super 30 countdown. “The year we went 6-6, [I believed] we were winning state. When we went 9-2, we were winning state. It's going to happen.”

Williams plans to officially visit the four other finalists in September and early October, which means a decision is likely to come shortly thereafter. All signs continue to point to the Buckeyes being his choice, but don’t count out the Crimson Tide or Ducks just yet.

Decision coming for Ohio State target Jameson Williams?

We could be drawing near a decision from Cardinal Ritter Prep (St. Louis, Mo.) wide receiver Jameson Williams. At least that’s what he hinted at via Twitter on Sunday night.

Williams, the country’s No. 24-ranked wide receiver, has been the top target at the position for Ohio State since it landed 5-star wideout Garrett Wilson in April. The 6-foot-2, 175-pound speedster officially visited the Buckeyes in June, and he has been to Oregon, Nebraska and Alabama since. He has three official visits scheduled: Nebraska on Sept. 22, Oregon on Sept. 29 and an Oct. 13 official visit scheduled with Alabama. But the scuttlebutt is that a decision could come sooner than that, and if it does, that’s likely good news for the Buckeyes.

Ohio State has been a consistent in Williams’ recruitment for months, despite the transition at wide receivers coach for the program.

Maybe a commitment could happen the weekend Urban Meyer returns to the sidelines of Ohio Stadium? We’ll see if Williams takes the official visits as planned.

    DUCKING OREGON
One of Ohio State's top receiving targets may be a bit closer to reaching a college decision.

2019 four-star wideout Jameson Williams cancelled a scheduled official visit to Oregon this Saturday, making the announcement on Twitter.

At 6-foot-2, 169 pounds, the Cardinal Ritter College Prep (Mo.) has received offers from Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Florida State and UCLA among others. As a junior, Williams caught 36 passes for 1,062 yards – an average of 29.5 yards per catch – alongside 19 touchdowns.

This fall, he's led his team to a 5-0 start on an offense that's averaging 39 points per game. Two of those wins have come by 82-0 and 61-35 scores.

Williams' cancellation of his Oregon visit comes before scheduled visits to Nebraska on Sept. 29 and Alabama on Oct. 13. Still, crystal ball predictions sway in the Buckeyes' favor, showing a 94 percent lean towards Ohio State. The trip to Tuscaloosa remains one to keep a very close eye on, however.

Going to be a nice addition to the class! He and Wilson are a great WR combo! Williams reminds me of Calvin Ridley, maybe a little faster tho. Kid is legit!
