Can Sam Thompson bulk up and be the next Light?

If Thompson can add about 25lbs to his lanky frame I think he can have a very similar career and game as my man D-Light. If you read their bio on the recruiting sites, their descriptions are very similar. If he has the mental juice that Light did it will be very interesting to see!

I realize he is more explosive than Lighty but D-Lighty gave alot to this program. I guess I meant- can Thompson have the all around impact on a game on both ends of the court as Lighty for 4 years (assuming) he stays. Thompson is very lean and raw right now, similar to the BB gun shooting Light from Cleveland but he developed his game year after year with the advantage of an extra season. Does anybody know if Thompson has that attitude in him?

Thompson is quicker/faster/better rebounder/better shooter then Lighty was comming out of HS and probably just as good on D no Doubt he can be way better the Lighty unless he just doesnt want to get better

    i wouldnt go that far

you cant replace the experiance and 3 point shooting we had last year and overall shooting abillity as well. guys like Thompson,Ross and Scott are good scorers, but very raw when it comes to actually making jumpshots consistantly

I will go on record right now and say we will return to at least the sweet 16...........you act like we don't have any talent to replace Lighty and Diebler.........

You seem to think you know a ton about basketball, well I am confused because Ohio State is loaded with very versatile players..............

did you just now figure this out?
you act like Freshman and Sophmores are going to lead us to 40-0 and NC

you really know absolutley nothing about basketball, which i hope you already know. Ohio St was THE BEST offensive shooting team in the entire country last year, they were the only team to shoot in the top 4 in FG % and 3 Point % yet Freshman and Sophmores are going to be as good if not better? I have no sought in my mind that we will not only be in the sweet16, but we will advance atleast one more round if not more. These young players have game. Remember, we will have Buford- a Sr. and all of these Sophs will be leaders on next years team. If Thomas learns when to shoot and when to pass and Thompson really is as good as advertised, we have nothing to worry about. we are solid, every team is young in today's game except for the mid-majors. To me, the x-factor is Sibert. If he can shoot from long range consistently, we should have a very balanced team. You guys are both right though, because when the tourney comes, it's all about match-ups.

I don't like starting many Freshmen, but your point is horrible considering UConn, one week ago today, won the title starting 3 freshmen......And their 6th man was a freshamen

Is there a better chance of a Craft-Sibert or Thompson-Buford-Thomas-Sully starting line-up or the Scott & Craft line-up? I seem to think that the 2 point guards will play plenty of minutes together but I just don't think that Matta will start them both. If we start Thompson or Sibert, that would give us a more balanced line-up and more fire power off the bench. It's gonna be different next year with the team goin 8/9/10 deep, can't wait.

I couldn't agree more. I don't care if our first 10 in the rotation are all freshmen and sophomores, I think the best players should play and if that costs us s couple of games early in the season to get us ready for the tourney, than so be it,
