HENDERSON TO VISIT IN OCTOBER, BUCKEYE BASH DATE SET
All the way back on July 1, we reported that Ohio State’s five-star running back commit TreVeyon Henderson was looking into making a trip to Columbus to see campus for the first time.

On Monday, Henderson confirmed with Eleven Warriors that he will be making a trip to Ohio State on Oct. 23-25, which was first reported by Bucknuts’ Bill Kurelic on Sunday night, to see the campus and the city of Columbus.

“I just got my plane ticket today,” Henderson told us. “I’m gonna be coming up by myself.”

Henderson might be flying from Virginia to Ohio by himself, but he won’t be alone in making his visit. The running back says his future backfield teammate, Evan Pryor, is set to make the visit as well, in addition to most of the other commits, as the Buckeye Bash is now set for Oct. 24.

As of now, the plan is for all of the commits in the class to visit – though there will surely be some stragglers who are unable to make the trip – and watch Ohio State’s season opener against Nebraska from somewhere on or near campus.

“We’re mainly just gonna go around campus and things like that, and Jack’s (Sawyer) got some other stuff planned,” Henderson said. “It’s gonna be an exciting time because he’s got a lot of stuff planned. He’s basically gonna be our guide and tell us where to go.

“We’re definitely gonna try to find somewhere to watch that game because you can’t get in. We’re gonna have to find somewhere that’s live that we can watch the game at.”

On Saturday, they plan to check out campus, restaurants and elsewhere to get another look at campus or, for players like Henderson, get their first look at campus.

“Just finally getting to see all the guys in person and getting together and bonding more. Visiting campus, finally getting to see what the campus is like and what the city is like,” Henderson said of what he’s most looking forward to on the visit.

As of now, there are no Ohio State 2021 or 2022 targets who we can confirm are coming, though it’s looking unlikely that Emeka Egbuka – who did not visit the Sooner Summit, either – or Tristan Leigh – whose trending to LSU is nearing lock status – will be making the visit. Egbuka told 247Sports’ Brandon Huffman recently that he doesn’t feel like he needs to make a third visit to Ohio State before making a college decision, but Egubka is still interested in making a visit for that Oct. 23-25 weekend.

HENDERSON READY FOR OHIO STATE WEIGHT PROGRAM
If we’ve ever wanted to relate more to a five-star running back prospect, here’s our chance:

TreVeyon Henderson is a self-described lover of junk food. Pizza and fried food, especially.

Of course, here’s where we’re different from him: He never gains any weight from it because he works out so hard that he burns off all the calories he intakes when he does eat poorly.

Soon enough, though, whatever junk food Henderson is taking on will be a thing of the past. As an early enrollee to Ohio State, the Buckeyes’ blue-chip running back commit has just a little more than three months left in his high school years before he hits the Columbus campus. Once he gets here – and maybe even a little before then – it’ll be time to crack down on any unhealthy eating habits.

hat’s one of the biggest things about the Buckeye program that he’s looking forward to the most is finally getting into Mickey Marotti, Quinn Barham and Co.’s strength and conditioning and nutrition program.

“I can’t wait to get in there,” Henderson told Eleven Warriors. “Just to see how he’s gonna work with me and transition me. The nutritional side is definitely gonna be the thing with me. That’s what I’m most interested in because I’m a picky eater. That’s definitely the thing that’s gonna get me the most.”

Just like it is with most freshmen who enter the program – like Paris Johnson Jr. shooting up from 290 pounds to 308 pounds after his first two months, or the changes in the bodies of guys like Gee Scott Jr. and Ryan Watts – Henderson is well aware that his body will change fast once he gets there.

In the meantime, Henderson isn’t taking any breaks when it comes to hitting the gym or the field – unless, of course, it’s a rest day – and he’s focused on doing full-body workouts.

Full-body workouts are popular among athletes, like Henderson, who are focused on gaining strength (and not mass), staying better conditioned, avoiding injury and staving off fat gain. That’s opposed to body-part split workouts (i.e. chest day, back day, etc.) that focus on building mass. (In news that you absolutely don’t care about, your favorite Eleven Warriors recruiting writer has been transitioning from body-part split workouts to full-body workouts and it just … sucks. In a good way.)

“Every time I hit the gym, I do a full-body workout so I don’t put too much stress on any one part of my body,” Henderson said. “It’s working out great. I’m 205 right now, and I’m just staying around that. I don’t go above 205. I’m gonna get in there and let them do the rest.”

By far the closest thing to Reggie Bush I've seen. Makes up for losing out on Bijan Robinson last year.

    • Day says TreVeyon Henderson is one of the best people he's ever met. Also mentions his bond with fellow running back Evan Pryor: "These guys have built a special relationship, he and Evan."
