This goes against the sacred guideline #5... But bear with me... I'm not spouting party line rants or bashing anyone... I feel that the embedded video below is great because it exemplifies what being a patriot and being an American are all about. In a nutshell, we're a great big team, a family if you will. You'll laugh but I go back to Rodney King's "Can't we all just get along?" but it's true.

From one member of Buckeye Nation, and from a patriot to 'my fellow Americans'... I love all yous guys regardless of what we may agree and disagree upon, politically, religiously, sports or otherwise. I took an oath to protect our republic, our constitution, and my fellow citizens from all enemies. To that point, I feel the oath never dies, and I would die for you guys today just as willingly as I would have when I still wore the uniform.

Liberty is not just a word in books, or on coins and money that drives some mystical energy keeping things together. It is something so much more than that, it's at the core of who we are as human beings. It's something that we should cherish above all else, even our beloved Buckeyes, something to be held as precious and vital as the very breath of life itself. In order for anything that good to survive hard times and flourish in brighter days we must persevere... but more importantly we must take care of each other and stand by each other...

In that sense our tough year surrounding our Buckeyes is metaphorically fitting to all else going on in our nation. But if we stick together, better days will come sooner than we think, and we'll enjoy them all the more for sticking together and standing up for ourselves and each other.

Respect, love, and free will. Be who you truly are, and I will stand with any of you, regardless of what I'm standing with you for. Go Bucks, Go America!
