2008 Ohio State Buckeye Football Game 2: Ohio University (0-1) vs. #2 Ohio State (1-0) at Ohio Stadium (Columbus, OH) Date: September 6th, 2008 TV: ESPN/ESPN2 Kick Off: Noon As we await word on the status of All-American running back, Chris "Beanie" Wells, let's discuss the keys to the game as we approach Sept. 13th at USC. Obviously, we really need Beanie to be healthy as we all hope for the best and a quick recovery because he's a crucial part of our offense. But we need to focus in on OU and make sure we're ready. It should be very interesting to see how our RBs do in this game. Side note: Let's try to get more activity going in these game threads with more chatter leading up and following each game. GO BUCKS!
I freakin hate OU - I really hope we crush them, but the adjectives stay the same. 1. Win, obviously. 2. Stay healthy. 3. Get EVERYONE in midseason form for USC. Beanie if healthy, Todd, Pryor, the entire defense and the freshman and sophomores. 4. Stay healthy for the Love of God.
I don't want Beanie on the field at all for this game. Same goes for Robo who landed on his bad shoulder when he caught the TD pass. I want more Bauserman and not one first teamer on both offense and defense on the field in the 2nd half.
Beanie maybe needs to get 5-10 snaps IMO pending on how serious the injury is just to keep the rust off going into the following week
I disagree. He's had reps so what more does 10 do for an experienced player like him? But first of all... we don't know how serious the injury is and whether or not he's going to be playing this year.
if i was tressel i wouldnt even play wells at all, like scarlet buckeye said hes an experienced player not a freshman and this would be an excellent time to get bauserman some snaps and pryor as well.however tho, i would encourage pryor to keep the running to a limited so he doesnt get injured and so he can get some more passing experience against the very fast college level he still has to adjust to.all and all im still pissed off we didnt get pryor:smash1:
the only reason beanie would be played would be to help his heisman position (with numbers) so i'm torn on what i would do if i were tressel...really depends alot on the injury.
I give him the start and max 5 runs then take him out, and that's only if Beanie says he is comfortable playing.
I don't know about you guys but I'm not so worried about the Heisman. I want a National Championship instead.
If he is, then yes, but if he's ok, then give him some first half playing time & let the other 3 play the second half.
Why do you feel he needs to play? He's already banged up (assuming he can play to begin with) and he's very experienced.
I feel like TP needs to play with first string O line this time around at least even if not first string recievers. Beanie will not play according to JT.
I'm with you. I could care less about the Heisman right now. Besides I don't think missing one game against OU is going to do much harm to his Heisman chances. Beanie has been listed as doubtful for the game though he is listed as the starting RB on the latest depth-chart. If he plays (which I hope he doesn't) he better be done for the day after the 1st quarter.
I'm not lobbying for him to play Saturday so much as I'm saying if he feels up to it, he'll play & nobody can stop him.
beanie will play if he feels he can. if the coaches still feel that he is injured, then he shouldnt. but i firmly believe that he will be good to go by saturday. i am not saying play him at all costs though
