I'm a little torn on the issue, I originally was hoping for the Big Ten to add more Big Ten matchups similar to what the Pac-10 does with everyone playing everyone else. But I saw the economic argument, especially for a program like us which supports a ton of sports programs. If switching to 12 teams gives us more of a competitive advantage, sure. There's always extending the season as well like Wisconsin and Illinois have done. Just sprinkle in some bye weeks.

Bye weeks do wonders for rehabbing injury. And they always benefit the better coaching staff.

If the Big Ten goes to 12 teams what schools/programs are targeted?

Iowa State, Missouri, Pitt, West Virginia, Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati or ND?

Once the 12th is added who belongs where (EAST - WEST)?

    Go Bucks!

Honestly, I think our only target should be ND or Missouri. The rest just don't cut it from an academic/athletic/financial(tv rating) stand point consistently.

Pittsburgh would be my #1 choice. Quality program and sits directly in Big Ten country.

ND will never join the Big Ten.

Don't think Kentucky would leave SEC. Mainly for BBall, the SEC is horrible, and the Wildcats own it!

    Nebraska anyone???!!!

Nebraska is intersting. Did not include, however makes sense; as much as Mizzou and Iowa State.

I don't think we'll be able to pull any other schools from the Big 12 or SEC. Eithe ND or a Big East school is likely, otherwise we stay with 11 teams.

Thinking outside the box would really work here!

Nebraska is a solid university! I think they would be allowed to get into the conference.

Nebraska wont leave the big 12 they are a traditional big 8 team and have rivalries with big 12 teams like oklahoma and mizzou. Plus that would upset the balance of the big 12 the only chance of a tream leaving a major confrence is the Big East mabye Cincinati or Pitt. Especialy with University of Charolette announcing they will start football in 2013 and move to FBS by 2015 they r similar to USF and a perfect Big East school.

If this happens it wont be for a while and the schools will be Cinci or Pitt if both have sustained success over the next couple of years

They will pick a school that has 3 qualities:

    1. Academically strong
    2. Athletically strong in non fball sports
    3. Traditional rivalry with current Big Ten team/s

Pitt and ND are easily the most obvious choices.

Nebraska will never leave the Big XII.

Pitt and West Virgina are logically choices. Others could also be Syracuse and Rutgers.

Notre Dame is the most likely, IMHO. Only because they aren't in a conference, and they are the best team without a conference to fit into our area.

Apparently West Virginia and Louisville aren't academically qualified candidates to join the Big Ten. The main academically strong schools that the Big Ten is looking at are Pitt, ND, Syracuse, and Rutgers.

Rutgers is an interesting one that I hadn't thought about. NJ has some recruiting potential. Just about everyone else does little to open-up recruiting for us.

I like Mizzou to the Big 10. If they joined then TCU would probably join the Big 12 don't ya think?

Would make sense! I would like to see U of Houston also be considered for Big 12. I think UT and A&M fear both TCU and U of H. U of H pounded Texas Tech this year and if Texas had to play these two schools back to back would have ended up w/a loss.

    Go Bucks, Beat da Ducks!
