Last fall was a wild ride for 2024 tight end Tayvion Galloway.

In August, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound Galloway only had one Division I offer to his name: Buffalo. In the months that followed, he picked up 13 more scholarship opportunities, including LSU, Cincinnati, Indiana, Michigan State, Purdue and Rutgers, to give him 14 total.

“It was kind of crazy,” Galloway said of his breakout on the recruiting scene. “Honestly it’s been a blessing, I’ve just been putting the work in and stuff like that.”

Ohio State is not yet among the colleges that have offered Galloway, but that could change this spring or this summer if the Buckeyes like what they see from Galloway in workouts.

“That would honestly mean the world to me,” Galloway said of a potential OSU offer. “Everyone around me knows and watches Ohio State. If I could get a full-ride scholarship offer, that’s big.”

With visits to LSU, Cincinnati and Michigan scheduled for early March, Galloway has added a trip to Columbus to his docket for March 22. Galloway visited Ohio State for the Tulsa game in September, but did not get a chance to meet with Ryan Day on that visit. That will change this spring, as Kevin Wilson talked to Galloway this week about the visit logistics.

“I’m really excited,” Galloway said of his upcoming trip to OSU. “I’m honestly looking forward to just building my connection with coach Wilson and getting to meet coach Day. (Wilson) basically just told me that he wants to introduce me to coach Day so coach Day and I can build a connection. He really just wants to see me, get me worked out and also see me for a camp.”

Although he doesn’t have an OSU offer yet, Galloway says he and Wilson talk around twice a week currently. If the next few months go well and Ohio State offers Galloway, he’d be flattered to get an offer from the team most of his friends and family grew up rooting for.

“I wouldn’t necessarily say I grew up an Ohio State fan, but obviously growing up just an hour away from Columbus, obviously that’s a big college for me because all I saw growing up was Ohio State,” Galloway said.

Galloway caught nine passes for 202 yards and two touchdowns during his sophomore season at Unioto this past fall. Defensively, he racked up 38 tackles with 1.5 sacks and an interception he returned for a touchdown. He plans to play his junior season for Chillicothe High School.

“I’d consider myself more of a receiving tight end for sure,” Galloway said when asked if he was more of a receiving or blocking tight end. “Just because of my ability to go up and high-point the ball, my speed and agility with my size and strength.”

As for Galloway, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound tight end does not yet hold an offer from Ohio State, though he already has several from Big Ten rivals such as Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue and Rutgers. But that could change as soon as Tuesday once he meets Ryan Day as Kevin Wilson planned. If an offer doesn’t come in this spring, it could come over the summer if he camps at Ohio State.

Galloway said Sunday that he’s looking forward to continuing to build his relationship with Ohio State’s coaching staff when he’s on campus Tuesday.

“Coach Wilson, we have a pretty solid relationship, we talk at least once a week,” Galloway told Eleven Warriors. “He’s a cool, down to earth guy. He’s told me he plans on using me as an all-around flex guy (at tight end) and just being a weapon.”

Seeing as he’s just entering his junior year, Galloway has set no timetable for his recruitment, but says he’ll make a decision whenever he feels the time is right.

“I’m taking my time with the process and building my connections with everyone,” Galloway said. “When I find out who I want to commit with, I’ll for sure commit. When I know, I’ll know.”

Both Galloway and Siereveld were among the players who earned MVP honors for their performances in their respective position groups at Sunday’s camp.

One of the fastest-rising 2024 tight ends in Ohio, Tayvion Galloway, took his second visit to Ohio State on Tuesday.

While on the visit, his first since attending the Akron game last September, the 6-foot-6, 215-pound Galloway watched practice, sat in on Ohio State’s tight end meeting, toured Ohio State’s facilities and had one-on-one meetings with Ryan Day, offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Kevin Wilson and running backs coach Tony Alford, all separately, before finishing his day with a photoshoot.

In the weeks leading up to the visit, Wilson told Galloway getting him in front of Day would be of utmost importance if he wanted to receive an OSU offer.

“It was great to finally meet him and begin building our connection and relationship,” Galloway told Eleven Warriors of his meeting with Day. “He told me obviously I am a talented player and that’s why I was there, but Ohio State football is much deeper than talent, and he wants to make sure I am a great person.”

While he did not receive an offer on Tuesday, Wilson told Galloway an offer could come sooner rather than later, and that Day wants to get to know him as a person before he pulls the trigger. Galloway said his meeting with Alford also went well.

“My favorite part was probably my sit-down talk with coach Alford,” Galloway said. “Really showed he was interested in who I am as a person and not just the athlete I am.”

Galloway has a busy spring visit schedule lined up, as he also has visits planned to Pittsburgh on April 2, Kentucky on April 5, Rutgers on April 16 and Georgia Tech on April 20. The only summer visit he has lined up so far is Alabama on June 15.

Galloway is in no rush to make a college decision and will let the recruiting process play out more as he’s still just a sophomore at Chillicothe High School.

    WILSON VISITING GALLOWAY
Ohio State coaches continue to get on the road to see various recruiting prospects as part of the spring evaluation period. On Monday, tight ends coach Kevin Wilson stopped in Chillicothe to visit four-star 2024 Ohio tight end Tayvion Galloway.

Galloway recently visited OSU on March 22, which allowed him to meet Ryan Day for the first time.

“It was great to finally meet him and begin building our connection and relationship,” Galloway told Eleven Warriors in March of his meeting with Day. “He told me obviously I am a talented player and that’s why I was there, but Ohio State football is much deeper than talent, and he wants to make sure I am a great person.”

Galloway holds 22 Division I offers to this point, but OSU has not yet extended him an offer. Schools that have offered include Arkansas, Cincinnati, Kentucky, LSU, Michigan, Michigan State, North Carolina and West Virginia.
