Dereck Lively, who also goes to Westtown School, picked up an Ohio State offer a few weeks ago.

The rising 6-foot-11, 200-pound center is only the second 2022 big man to pick up an offer from Holtmann’s staff, joining Dayton Belmont’s Shawn Phillips. Lively holds a multitude of offers from Miami, UCLA, Xavier, Providence and others. He’s the No. 40 overall recruit and fourth-ranked center in the cycle.

One of the names that could soon announce a visit to Columbus is four-star centerDereck Lively II. The blue-chip prospect hailing out of Bellfonte, Pennsylvania has been in contact with Ohio State for the majority of his recruitment. The Buckeyes offered him an official scholarship in May of last year and have kept in contact with him. While he has not yet put out a finals schools list, he did recently list the Bucks as one of the teams most involved.

Andrew Slater of Pro Insight spoke with Lively, and the center not only listed the schools most active in his recruitment, he also revealed he is beginning to schedule official visits.

As of now, we know both North Carolina and Duke are set to receive visits, thank to Jake Weingarten of Stockrisers.com. This leaves multiple other school vying for one of the remaining three allocated visits, including Ohio State.

One would have to assume Penn State will also receive a visit, as him mom attended the University as a student athlete and they are the hometown school. The other two spots are completely up in the air right now, but USC, Michigan, Ohio State and Kentucky would all look to have even odds at one of those spots.

Lively is one of the top prospects in the entire 2022 recruiting class, and with the position being one of need for the Buckeyes, the chance at early playing time may be enough to earn them one of those five visits. Lively is the No. 35 overall prospect in his class, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He is also No. 4 at his position and is the No. 1 prospect in the talent-rich state of Pennsylvania.

    DERECK LIVELY II
    7-FOOT-1, 220 POUNDS – NO. 35 OVERALL, NO. 4 C – BELLEFONTE, PENNSYLVANIA
Much like Filipowski, Lively has shot up the rankings, especially since he has stood out the past couple of weekends while playing with top-ranked Emoni Bates and second-ranked Jalen Duren. He’s a lanky rim protector who is best on the defensive end as his offensive game develops.

Ohio State has been involved in Lively’s recruiting process for a while, initially extending a scholarship offer over a year ago, and it continues to pursue him. But the 7-foot-1 center has recently talked about his interest in the blue bloods and has set up June visits to both Duke and North Carolina. Ohio State, along with schools like Penn State, Kentucky and Kansas, continues to go after him, but the competition is strong. He hasn’t yet said whether or not he’ll visit Columbus this summer, and if that doesn’t happen, it’s difficult to imagine Lively ending up as a Buckeye.
