Efton Reid, 6-foot-11, 225 pounds, out of the Steward School (Richmond, VA) Reid was one of the earlier big men that Ohio State offered and for good reason seeing as he has become one of the top center prospects in the 2021 class. Ever since the Buckeyes have offered, the likes of Virginia, Kansas, Michigan, Maryland, and Louisville have issued an offer to Reid. On top of that, blue blood schools like North Carolina and Kentucky have also reached out to talk to the near 7-footer. Ohio State assistant Ryan Pedon is leading the charge here and has been on the phone with Reid in the past week. Obviously, with a high profile recruit such as Reid, Buckeye head coach Chris Holtmann has been in contact. If there is one thing Ohio State has going for them here, it is staying power and long-term relationships. But in a down class for big men in 2021, Reid is one of the country’s crown jewels, which is evident by his offer sheet. With him being from the state of Virginia, it appears that Tony Bennett and the Virginia Cavaliers are the team to beat. If a program like North Carolina was to jump into this recruitment, they would also jump near the top of Reid’s list. He did visit Ohio State this fall for a football game and he has strong communication with the coaching staff, so he is interested. Ohio State will scratch, claw, and fight all the way to the end in this one, but right now all signs point to it being an uphill climb for the Buckeyes when it comes to one of the five-star big men.
