    MJ Walker - No. 18

The Jonesboro, Ga., wing guard Walker wrapped up a strong spring by coming in at No. 18. At 6-foot-5 and 190 pounds, Walker has great size and athleticism, and would be a great fit within Thad Matta's system. According to ESPN, Walker is down to Auburn, Florida State and Ohio State.

Ohio State basketball hosts a key visitor
As it looks to land another impact player, Ohio State basketball hosted M.J. Walker, a 4-star shooting guard in the 247Sports composite rankings, over the weekend.

The news was first reported by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

College basketball’s second signing period runs through May 17, and Walker is one of only a handful of top recruits who have not signed or committed to a school yet. He took an official visit to Florida State in the fall and officially visited Virginia Tech on April 22 before traveling to Columbus to see the Buckeyes. A Georgia native, he has also unofficially visited Georgia Tech recently.

Jones is the No. 4 shooting guard in the Class of 2017 and No. 25 overall prospect. Landing him would be a huge coup for Thad Matta as Ohio State looks to return to the NCAA Tournament after two straight misses.

M.J. Walker, two-sport star at Ohio State?
Over the weekend, Ohio State hosted a talented 5-star basketball prospect from Lithia Springs, Ga., on an official visit.

His name is M.J. Walker and he’s a 6-foot-4, 180-pound shooting guard at Jonesboro High School. It just so happens that the country’s 25th-ranked 2017 basketball prospect is also a pretty talented football player.

    From Ricky O’Donnell of SBNation.com:

MJ Walker has played exactly one season of football in the last four years. Everyone agrees he’s one of the most coveted shooting guards in America. That’s why it was especially strange when Walker went to school one day last year and got a startling bit of news: Jim Harbaugh and Michigan had just offered him a football scholarship.

Michigan isn’t the only school trying to lure Walker to its basketball program with the promise of a chance to play football. A report from Tim Thomas of Techlunchpail.com, a Virginia Tech-devoted web space, says that the Buckeyes are one of those teams offering that opportunity.

From what we are hearing, Ohio State is looking into giving him the opportunity to play both basketball and football for the Buckeyes with Walker being previously highly recruited as a football recruit as well with offers from schools like Clemson, Michigan, Florida, Auburn, Miami, Ole Miss, UNC, and Duke before shifting his focus to basketball full time around his junior year. We are also hearing that Virginia Tech is not considering that dual-sport athlete option at this point though that definitely could change.

A source told Land of 10 on Tuesday that the Ohio State basketball program has not talked to the football program about Walker.

With numbers already tight at wide receiver, it is very unlikely that Urban Meyer’s program would entertain the notion of bringing aboard a half-time player in 2018.

Let Urban recruit him...Get him and L'Christian Smith and the basketball team might make the tournament.
