It's worse when it's a player from a big time program like Massillon.

We've had a problem with Massillon Washington players heading north for some reason

They need to head about 75-100 miles west by southwest

i think part of the reason not many kids from massillon end up at OSU is because there hasn't been too many successes of former tigers playing down here in columbus in recent years at least.

True, but is Shawn Crable really what you would call success?

a captain at a big time football school, got his degree, and will be a first day draft pick more than likely. so yes, i would consider him a success. although when i said there hasn't been much success from former massillon players here at OSU i was referring to zwick, devin jordan, and travis mcguire from back in the early 90s.

Don't forget Chris Spielman though. He was about as successful as he could be. Crable was good, but I think playing for tsun made him underachieve.

yes, i think that might be true about him underachieving up there. however, i think if he would have came here he would have gotten into some trouble. shawn has come along ways. he wasn't even a captain for massillon while he played there. you are right about spielman, he was pretty much the last player to shine at OSU. i like our chances with turner though, hopefully he stays out of trouble and he'll turn out to be a great one.

You guys ever notice how players like Prescott Burgess, Shawn Crable and LaMarr Woodley were almost identical? TSUN prodcues the same type of LB every year, going all the way back to the Larry Foote days. Seriously, who is the last GREAT LB to play at TSUN?

Turner finally got his offer today! I was wondering what was taking so long. He also received offers from WVU and Pitt today. His Mom is a huge Buckeye fan and really wants her son to go to tOSU, but she isn't going to pressure him to go there - it's her son's decision. Justin really likes tOSU too, but said he wants to take his time to go to camp and take visits. He likes TSUN too, but doesn't have much of a relationship with the staff there. In fact he hasn't heard from Dick Rod at all. He said he only knows a coach whose last name is Bruce. He really likes Illinois and he hears from them more than any other school.

I think our chances are good, but I have this feeling that he will go somewhere else, maybe even outside of Big10 country. You got to assume by getting offers from WVU and Pitt as well today that some schools from the SEC and ACC could make a push for Turner. I get this feeling b/c tOSU hasn't really had much luck getting Massillon kids lately. Or you could say the good Massillon players we have gotten never really panned out......at least in the Tressel era. Illinois worries me a bit with Turner, but like I said I like our chances. If LLLLLLLoyd were still at TSUN i'd be tons worried that Turner would go there since TSUN has stolen quite a bit of good Massillon players over the years, but I don't think Dick Rod's staff will have the luck getting Massillon players as LLLLLLLoyd had, at least not now.

As of now, I say 65% chance he becomes a Buckeye.
