Bolton says Trump told him Ukraine Aid was tied to Biden Investigation The gun still smokes on fifth avenue.
GOP blocks witnesses from trial, and Bolton reveals that Trump's lawyer was actually a witness to meeting in which Trump discussed blocking aid until Ukraine announced an investigation into the Bidens a day later. Looks like Democrats might have their witness after all. Meanwhile, Trump and co have essentially stopped denying the quid pro quo. They are now are arguing that he was acting in the national interest by rooting out corruption, as Hunter was benefiting from his father's presidency (an astounding claim considering his own children are working in the White House and he has granted them security clearance that they clearly wouldn't qualify otherwise). Trump's legal team also argued that the Trump's withholding funding of funding in order to get this information is permissible because he believes that it is in the country's best interest for him to be reelected ... Yep, that's an argument the "small government" "swamp draining" President just made ... All this is quite unsurprising, as the GOP has officially given up any care for optics and seems to be fine with openly covering Trump's lies. I somehow thought that Republican voters would at least be curious to know the facts of the trial, but they seem happy to plug their ears and destroy and semblance of credibility with each passing day. Let's also take this moment to remember that Newt Gingrich demanded witnesses and eventually impeached Bill Clinton for his involvement with Monica Lewinsky, all while cheating on his own wife who was hospitalized with cancer. The GOP has been the party of "do as I say, not as I do" for a very long time, and you are lying to yourself if you think otherwise.

Marco Rubio's mind-blowing explanation of his impeachment vote "Just because actions meet a standard of impeachment does not mean it is in the best interest of the country to remove a President from office," Rubio wrote. "Determining which outcome is in the best interests requires a political judgment — one that takes into account both the severity of the wrongdoing alleged but also the impact removal would have on the nation," he said. “Nevertheless, new witnesses that would testify to the truth of the allegations are not needed for my threshold analysis, which already assumed that all the allegations made are true,” Rubio said.
