everyone deserves a second chance. by this train of thinking we should of never given troy smith a second chance for being stupid. these guys can tough out the next 2 weeks and then leave for the nfl. the ones that come back next season i will have more respect for.

sorry fellas these guys should not be able to make the trip to the sugar bowl. with the right players on the field and the right scheme we could still win this game. but if they put bauserman it will be a long painful night.

YouTube - Mark May Blasts The NCAA for Ohio State suspensions

this video is funny because this continues to show how dumb mark may is. " had this been an SEC school they would of not played in the sugar bowl" WTF???? did that jackass already forget about the cam newton ruling and how bogus that was??? better yet that usc is suspended while cam is traveling to the bcs title game. that guy doesn't have to try very hard to be a tool.

I don't know the exact numbers or anything, but I have no problem saying that SEC has the highest number of arrests/crime/misbehavior of players corresponding with the the flimsiest punishments of any conference in the NCAA. Just look at Florida under Urban Meyer.

First, I doubt these players get suspended for the Sugar Bowl. The pressure is on from the NCAA (since they won't suspend the players for the bowl game), the Sugar Bowl people, and probably some of the Ohio State boosters. JT might suspend them anyhow, but since he is going to bat attempting to get their suspensions reduced, he may let them play.

Second, I don't see how any of these players can say with a straight face that they didn't know they couldn't sell their stuff. I mean, common sense would tell you that.

I hate when people say that these players should be payed because the school is making so much money off of them. The football program funds every other single sport at Ohio State other than basketball.

Not to mention, the players on scholarship are getting the following things for free:

    1. Tuition.
    2. Books
    3. Room & Board
    3. A stipend to pay for food.

Students not on those big sports scholarships have to search and search for scholarships and grants, and to keep them there are various things like carrying an A average. What those students don't get in those scholarships and grants (which put together for one student doesn't equal even half of a full sports scholarship) have to take out STUDENT LOANS. Those things you have to pay back not long after finishing school.

My girlfriend did four years at John Carol University and she had to take out about $25k in student loans. Now going to Ohio State in Columbus, the average student is taking out closer to $40-50k in student loans over four years, if not even more than that.

So yeah, that free education is their payment. Not having to pay back student loans after school (especially in this economy where you don't always get a good paying job afterward) is a big help.

As for the players, I am expecting Posey and Pryor go pro.

Pryor only wants to come back so he can set a bunch of records for a QB at Ohio State (and hopefully become a Top 10 NFL draft choice). If he's suspended for 5 games, he won't be setting those records. And if we were to go 5-0 in his absence with Braxton Miller at QB, I highly doubt JT lets Pryor have the starting QB job back.

Posey can shoot up the draft boards with workouts. I was leaning towards him going pro after this season anyways.

I have lost respect for all the players who are suspended. Any that come back next season and serve their suspensions, and take whatever else comes at them (JT's doghouse), they will regain some of my respect, but not all of it.

And about those calling Ohio State a dirty program, they can shut the heck up. This isn't an academic cheating scandal. This isn't boosters paying players. This isn't a school or boosters paying a player's family for him to play at a school. This is a few dumbass players who decided to sell their B10 Championship rings, some jerseys, trophies, etc. for money and tattoos.

The coaches and other people involved with the program/school can't hold these players hands and follow them around. The players make their own decisions, and they made these decisions without thinking of how this could hurt their TEAM.

And Mark May is a douchenozzle. The NCAA is a joke. Sanctioning USC to send a message and then letting Cam Newton off for his dad wanting paid for his son to play at a school. And last I checked, Cam Newton players for Auburn who is an SEC school. Mark May needs to just drop off the face of the Earth, the guy is a waste of oxygen.

The biggest factor is a no brainer~~~

January 18 is the last day a player can declare for the draft, nowing how the NCAA drags their feet,if a ruling to perhaps reduce the penalty to say 2/3 games is not announced before that date kiss those 4 goodbye.
This is a devastating blow to the OSU program and will be felt for years to come,c'mon NCAA have a heart, it is Christmas after all.

They deserve the punishment that they got and it's disappointing, but at the end of the day tOSU will bounce back and be fine.

Other than Pryor I don't believe that these suspensions truly hurt the team next year.

    Are you that naive ????????

this is a serious blow to the program, sure they will survive but it is a setback of medium proportions,B.Miller coming in on Jan 3 and being part of spring practice is monumental now.

Sorry about scaring you guys about the go blow thing! LOL!

SCum fans are already saying what thugs we have in our program! Plus they are saying how bad we are going to be next year. I don't buy it. I think we will be fine. We might not be in the NC hunt, but we will be fine for the Big Ten. And WE WILL still beat SCum.

I'd be surprised if we werent favored in every game except maybe in Lincoln...Miami has major issues and MSU will drop back to the mediocrity they so much enjoy...I would definitely consider anything less than a 10-2 season a major disappointment...we have more talent at almost every position even with the loss of all 5 guys (except maybe qb and OT) than any team in the big 10.

Even if Pryor's suspension was reduced to 4 games... that's still 4 games he never played in and even more time he would need to get his "rhythm" back. The suspension of Pryor is serious and his talents depend on us winning the big trophy... or more realistically the Big Ten.

We can manage replacing Posey with some of our younger guys.... Adams hurts as well but I think we can find someone else too. Boom was leaving anyways and our RB stable is loaded.

I really hope Guiton is really as good as he looks!!

They will get their suspension reduced by at least 1 game..........the suspension was harsh needless to say............

While I have an issue with selling gold pants and championship rings, I also feel that this was their property but I also understand the rule and the intent of the rule..........

Pryor and Posey will return.............Adams is closer to returning than not returning............Boom I think will enter the draft..........

They should be suspended for the Sugar Bowl, but not the bowl and 5 games next year, that is overkill in my opinion............the NCAA is not consistent with their sanctions, kids down south taking money and only getting 2 games, DUI and you get a game?

Sell your property and you get 5 games? Cmon.

Doesn't seem fair at all IMO. For a conference, or a program which great integrity, you'd think they'd be a little less harsh on their rulings. Cash Newton takes money... gets no suspension... our players sell their own property and get 5 games and national punishment. Double standard... probably due to the SEC success in games too.
