Ohio State offers New Jersey standout

Ohio State extended a new offer over the weekend to Montvale (N.J.) St. Joseph Regional guard Luke Wypler, a 6-4, 269-pound prospect in the Class of 2020. Coming out of his sophomore season, Wypler already holds more than a dozen scholarship offers, many of them from major programs.

“Luke called me immediately after he spoke with Coach [Greg] Schiano. He’s through the roof happy,” St. Joseph coach Augie Hoffman shared with Land of 10. “He is definitely going to visit Ohio State.”

Ohio State joined an offer list that already included Michigan, Notre Dame, Florida, Stanford, Wisconsin and Virginia. Wypler’s high school program is a part of northern New Jersey’s private school powerhouse circuit, where he played league games against players such as 2018 Ohio State signees Tyler Friday and Javontae Jean-Baptiste.

Buckeyes in final two for big-time 2020 OL Luke Wypler
Speaking of that group of 2020 commitments, there’s a pretty good chance they could add another priority member in the near future. Montvale (N.J.) 4-star offensive guard Luke Wypler has narrowed down his school choices to just two and a decision will come by the end of the summer.

Wypler is the country’s third-ranked guard and 75th-overall prospect in the Class of 2020. He told Lettermen Row he’s been in regular contact with the Buckeyes 2020 verbals.

“A lot,” he said. “Paris, Jake, Jack, Lejond and I talk almost every day.”

Going head-to-head against a school like Stanford is a daunting task for any program in America, and the relationships Wypler is forming with future Buckeyes is just one reason he’s considering the school so heavily.

“It’s definitely something special,” Wypler said. “That really makes this process so much fun.

“Ohio State as a school has everything that I am looking [for], with the Fisher School of Business. On the field its coaching staff all have extreme experience breeding, working with and creating the best football players in the country. It’s one of the few places, along with Stanford, where the football is excellent and the academics are just as good.”
