Good point, plus tha fact, Purdue has yet to see a defense like ours. I think they will be concerned when they aren't scoring as often as they have been, and we start racking up some points on them. -Jim
Their quarterback really didn't look great against Notre Dame last week, throwing 2 picks and getting a sub 60% average. We'll be bringing a lot more pressure than ND did.
This should be an amazing game. I wonder which QB will do better? The painter himself Painter? Or Todd Boekman? I am going to go with the final score: Ohio State-31, Purdue-21. A very good over all, but, Beanie should have a little problem going against a very good run defense. It should be nice to see him go against a little competition finally. I hope he does great.
it will be close until brandon saine walks out onto the field in the final seconds to end the game, but even wiht his injury recovery, he blows by everyone for a touchdown
Purdue's offense is supposedly high powered...this is going to be a good test for our defense unlike the offenses of Y-town, akron, NW. and Minnesota. i hope they are up for it...because college football is showing no respect for Ohio st and the big ten and they are just waiting for us to loose so they can bash us more...all over the radio(espn radio mainly) they are saying we could not hang with Oklaohama, USC i would like to think we would have a chance. But hey didn't they say that about us against Miami in 02? well i am done rambeling now ......GO BUCKS!!!
I believe the key to OSU's defense shutting down the Purdue offense it to make them one dimensional. Purdue has had success early this season running the football. OSU will be playing the nickel package the majority of the game. If OSU comes out and stops the run forcing Purdue to throw the ball on every down they will be playing into OSU's hands. We can then send different blitz packages at Painter and different coverage looks. Anytime the defense doesn't know what to expect out of the offense they are at a disadvantage. OSU has done a great job of making teams one dimensional in the past if they do that to Purdue on Saturday it will be a long day for Purdue.
:iagree: We also need to force turnovers. I expect at least two INTs (one by a DB and one by an LB). Since Purude is such a heavy passing team I expect thrm to throw Malcolm Jenkins' way a few times and he will be waiting to pick them off, especially if he is dropped back in the safety position as he is often on 3rd downs.
So from what you both are saying, this should be a HUGE defensive game for us. I'm pretty confident that we can work our magic against their defense,
If we can win the turnover ratio we'll be in good shape. Turnovers destroy your chances at winning. (Last night Southern Miss had 7 total TOs and they lost by only a few points.)
And we NEED to shut them up!!!! I like our chances right now against any team out there! Especially if all the parts stay healthy, and keep improving!
That's a great first post. +rep I'm actually feeling more confident about this game as the week goes on.
Honestly, me too. Last Saturday I predicted 34-21, but right now I'm thinking more of a 42-17 blowout.

haha ya I gave him + rep also. That is good. I dont know, Im feeling less confident for some reason as the week goes on. I don't know why. I just keep thinking that something bad is going to happen, I dont know. Hopefully nothing does happen. O well I think we'll pull through and masacre them!!! GO BUCKEYES!!!oh_sign:
i read the scouting reports in the BSB. it doesn't look like we will have a hard time running against purdue. i think this will be the difference in this game. our running attack is going to be too much for purdue. we can't come out flat and try to win it in the fourth. by that time the game will be over. the defense will give up some yards but i think we will be tough to score on. the defense will need to create some turnovers. that will be a key to this game. i will go with osu 31 purdue 17
I'm worried about our kickoff and punt coverage. It looked terrible last week and Purdue's returners are some of the best in the Big Ten. I think we might have one run back on us today.
^^^ i dont think so. i am expecting our guys to come out and be running on all cylanders for thsi game. we just have to make sure our offense isn't flat in the first half like the washington game.
I'm going to expect to give up a few big plays, but overall we should dominate on both sides of the ball. 34-14 OSU wins.
