Another away night game for the Buckeyes against an undefeated Purdue team. Is this going to be the first REAL test for the Buckeyes? How do you think this game will turn out?
I think we'll step up and win in what could be a scary game. The first half will be a nailbiter I think. First Quarter: 7-7 (Purdue scores first) Second Quarter: 17-14 (OSU) Third Quarter: 24-14 (OSU) Fourth Quarter: Purdue scores again and makes it 24-21, but OSU puts the game away with a FG and a TD. 34-21
Purdue is planning a "Blackout" for the game this week. Sounds like they are treating this like the biggest game of the year... wtf at glow in the dark!? :ack2:
Well, I think I would be very surprised if this game was a blow out. I think it will be harder than we think because we historically have not played 'great' over there. Then factor in both teams being undefeated, it's a night game, and the crowd being pumped up, it's going to be a battle.
Always beware of an underdog, at home, at night. I'd like to see a comeback win for us. Get our offense some more confidence and momentum for the rest of the season.
i expected the purdue fans to do something for this game. this game is huge for them with them just cracking the top 25. we just have to come out fired up for this one. purdue is better then minnesota and i felt we came out too flat. i wish we could come every game like we were for northwestern.
Schools love to do this to tOSU teams. Remember at NC State in 2004 they tried to "red out" Ohio State? Then you had Penn State in 05 with the white-out. Then last year at Iowa with the all yellow. This year we're gonna see all black at Purdue and likely another white-out at State Penn. I wonder what TSUN will do?
As for the game.....we should win. Though we haven't played well at Purdue in recent history. I think they're going to avoid our LB's as much as possible and go after our young secondary. Our DL will need to get pressure on Curtis Painter and force him to make bad throws. Our offense should bulldoze over Purdue's D with no problem. Ohio State - 34 Purdue - 14
Our running game is going to be crucial for us to win the game. If we can run the ball, move the sticks, and keep the ball out of their hands we'll have a very good chance at winning.
If Notre Dame can score 19 points on Purdue's D, then I like our chances to break at least 30 and possibly crack 40. This is the game where our secondary needs to step up. PLAY EUGENE CLIFFORD!!!!
I just don't think OSU is a big play team to blow out the remainder of the teams on the schedule. Our fans and the country should be prepared for the rest of the games to go down to the wire. This team is just like the 02 team. We will depend on running the ball and shortening the games. Our defense will continue to carry the team. We just can't turn the ball over on offense. This week it will be critical that the dline pressures Painter. We can't give him all day to throw the ball, the more we can use the linebackers in coverage the better. All 3 of them are very good cover linebackers. Don't get me wrong if the front 4 aren't getting pressure we must send the linebackers. Has anybody else noticed how much Gibson is playing in passing situations? They really like the way he rushes the QB look for him to play a lot Saturday. OSU 27 Purdue 13 A late touchdown drive for OSU seals the win.
Good point. We absolutely cannot let Painter have all day in the pocket and choose where he puts the ball. If he does that then that won't be good for us.
A lot of you guys make good points. This is going to be the first true test this season for the Buckeyes. Well actually Washington can kind of be considered as the first true test, since we went to play a decent Washington team, it was the first away game for this inexperienced team. But, Purdue is not going to be an easy win. It looks like the last 6 of our 7 games are going to be tough for us. But, I still think Ohio State slows down Purdue's offensive attack of scoring 45 points a game. I am going to say Ohio State wins 31-17.
Gibson is an animal. He may be the best pass rushing LB we have right now. He's very quick and can also drop back like a safety. I say put Gibson in to blitz all night and flush Painter out of the pocket.
I think this will be the bucks first real test. I am hoping and praying for a win!! I was in Iowa a few years back when they blew us out of the water and i def do not what the same situation come this saturday. I will be right behind their band and right next to the student section, so i'm praying i come home alive
Our last 3 trips to Purdue haven't been pretty. Holy Buckeye was our last win there and you all know how close that game was.
