We need to attack right away and stay disciplined. No dumb penalties. I think we will have success throwing the ball but J Leman could be a problem when we run the ball. I like how our defense is facing an offense that will keep them on their toes all game. Illinois runs the spread and they have some good athletes and speed. This will be a good test before we go to TSUN. Not that i'm looking ahead or anything....
Tressel and the Offensive coordinators have really unlocked a successful formula for winning with this team. They come out in the Openning 3 drives looking to throw intermidiate routes. If the defense is well prepared for this (and a Ron Zook team won't) and is dropping the LB into coverage, Boeckman can simply audible to a iso or stretch run play. The Indy Colts have a similar scheme. The outcome is either a quick score off of play actio nor a methodical drive down the field to open the game. Either way, the result is early points and pressure applied to the opposing offense.
Illinois has a stud LB J Leman and 2 stud true freshman on the DL (that should've been Buckeyes) Martez Wilson and Josh Brent. I don't know how they all compare in ranking with PSU and Wisky, but I don't think they're quite as good as PSU's D, though Illinois beat PSU. If we can just get a man on Leman when Beanie runs up the gut, I don't see any other way Illinois stops our offense.
Seniors Being Recognized on Saturday: -- Not many recognizable names but they are still Buckeyes! OT Kirk Barton DL Brett Daly OL Dan Dye PK Andrew Good LB Larry Grant LS Jackson Haas FB Dinote Johnson WR David Lisko LS Dimitrious Makridis FB Trever Robinson WR Brett Ullery FB Tyler Whaley WR Devin Jordan WR Curt Lukens DB De'Angelo Haslam
Just looking at that list makes my giddy for 2008 b/c there are so few impact seniors we are losing. Kirk Barton being the exception, he will surely be missed. I was saying in 2008 that this team is built for 2008. Now it seems that it is built for 2007 and 2008.
I can't wait until this game. I have a feeling that Beanie, Todd, Brian, Brian, Maclom, Marcus, James,etc.... with have their best games ever! Lets go Buckeyes.
There are so many games on at 3:30 too. I hope that the Bucks have them game wrapped up by halftime so I can check out what's going on in the other games.
Should be a fun game to watch. Illinois is probably the fastest team we've faced all year, BUT they do have a tendancy to make mistakes. I think our boys are going to want to honor our Seniors last game in the Shoe and so we will probably see some really inspired play on the part of our beloved Bucks. If we don't turn the ball over, we should win the game pretty handidly. GO BUCKS!
Yeah, not too many big names, but there are two captains on there and Grant has been a big contributor. Nothing will top the love the seniors got last year at the Michigan game, when Troy came out the crowd was livid.
Is it really that big of an upset that we lost? This was after all supposed to be a rebuilding year wasn't it?
well we got beaten in every facet of the game.....10-1 with this team and I'm happy. we need to regroup for hart and Michigan. Losses teach you a lot; lets just hope our guys learn
I don't care what anybody says, but that was a f*#%ing fumble on Illinois' first run of the day, and for the Big10 officials to not even review it was an absolute joke! And yes it did make a difference in the game. I can see the Big10 officials issuing an apology to Ohio State tomorrow for the blown call, big flipping woo that would do... I am so mad right now, I feel bad for my family  I am yelling at them for the absolute smallest things. I hate this feeling...
That was a fumble! What the h*ll was the booth doing?!?!? Since when do you NOT call a booth review on that to be 100% positive that the play was dead.
That's just it, it wasn't even that close of a call, the TV replay showed 1 angle of the play and the ball was clearly, without question, absolutely, out of the RB's hands while he was up in the air. Buckeyes recover in the endzone, Buckeye ball at the 20, Illinois does not score their 1st TD. I am so steamed by this play all through the game, I was desperately hoping it would not come back and haunt the Buckeyes, but obviously it did...
hey, we could have challenged and we didn't so don't be so mad at them Tress had a review and they didn't quick snap so we had time to take a look
