Kendall Milton official visit goes well for Ohio State
5-star running back Kendall Milton made his first official visit of what’s going to be a busy, important June. His first stop was to Ohio State, and now back home, the 6-foot-2, 220-pound tailback from Buchanan High School outside of Fresno, Calif., will rest for just a few days before making his second visit with a trip to LSU.

Georgia and Alabama will receive official visits in the weeks following that trip to Baton Rouge, though the order of those visits is apparently up in the air.

So, yes, it’s a busy few weeks for the country’s third-ranked running back and the player that is unequivocally the top target for Ohio State at the running back position in 2020.

Right now, after talking to a handful of different folks that were around Milton and his family during the weekend visit to Columbus, I think the Buckeyes are the team to beat in this recruitment. Milton was hosted by Garrett Wilson, and he had a chance to spend quality time with 5-star offensive tackle Paris Johnson, who made the trip up I-71 to visit Ohio State and help show Milton around.

There’s a lot of positive vibes developing here.

But there’s a long way to go and a very difficult SEC minefield to navigate. Every single person I spoke with about the trip returned an extremely positive message, albeit usually with an asterisk.

“It went great,” one of the sources told Lettermen Row. “It went really great. But you never know what happens from here.”

That uncertainty rests in the upcoming official visits to SEC Country. Though LSU gets the next shot at Milton, it’s the June 14 weekend visit to Georgia that I personally am watching closely. I believe it’s the Bulldogs that have the best chance right now to overtake the Buckeyes, but I don’t mean at all to rule out LSU or Alabama. That’d be silly to do so.

Bottom line as of now? It feels really good for Ohio State in the recruitment of Kendall Milton. But it’s not over by a longshot.

Uncommitted five-star 2020 RB Kendall Milton is taking an official visit to Georgia this weekend.

Milton (6'1/215) is working with a top-four list of Georgia, LSU, Alabama and Ohio State. He has already taken official trips to OSU and LSU. It'll be Athens for the Clovis, California, native this weekend and Tuscaloosa the weekend after. ESPN's Tom VanHaaren and Tom Luginbill view Milton as a "must get" for the Bulldogs in this cycle (so much as this loaded Georgia program has a "must get"). On the field, notes 247Sports' Brandon Huffman, the five-star back "runs with a unique blend of power, speed and balance." Huffman is particularly impressed with the ability Milton has shown to break tackles and keep on ticking. On the 247Sports composite board, Milton lands as the No. 21 overall prospect in the 2020 class.

    Kendall Milton Announces Commitment Date
Five-star running back Kendall Milton will make his commitment decision Monday, 247Sports reported and he confirmed via Twitter on Friday. Like Clark Phillips and Bryan Bresee, Milton will commit on CBSSports HQ at cbssports.com at 8 p.m. ET.

He will be deciding between Alabama, LSU, Georgia and Ohio State, but it seems like Ohio State isn’t necessarily on solid ground in terms of his recruitment, especially as talks about Arizona five-star running back Bijan Robinson’s intentions of committing to Ohio State continue to increase. They will not end up at the same program.

In a snap, it’s been about two months since Milton arrived in Columbus for his official visit, and since that first official visit on his slate of four, the momentum has seemingly slowed for the Buckeyes. But it’s never seemed more promising for Ohio State to land Bijan Robinson, though, which in terms of ratings, is a lateral move at the position, despite the running backs’ differing styles.

It's amazing how quickly recruiting can change ... We were in fantastic position with both Robinson and Milton just a month ago, and now we don't have either. I think Day made a mistake by cooling here and calling his shot instead of keeping contact with both until one pulled the trigger.

I know Robinson was Day's first choice, but a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush.

Tbh, I think Milton is going to be a locker room issue. His dad rubs a lot of people the wrong way. Not quite in the Levarr Ball level, but close.
