New Class of 2019 cornerback offer by the Buckeyes Houston Dekaney cornerback Marcus Banks, a 3-star prospect in the 2019 class, landed an offer from the Buckeyes on Tuesday. Banks is a 6-foot, 170-pound prospect ranked the No. 398 overall recruit and No. 36 corner in his class in the 247Sports composite rankings. Thought he’s not among the highest-ranked defensive backs in this class, Banks’ offer list is certainly elite. Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Nebraska, Notre Dame — Banks’ scholarships are truly a who’s-who of college football blue-blood programs. Banks took his first official to Texas A&M last Saturday and will take his second, to Texas, this Saturday. LSU is expected to receive an official visit in June, leaving just two slots open for Ohio State to fight its way into this recruitment. Cornerback has remained wide open for Ohio State in 2019. Four-star prospects such as Erick Young and Jeffery Carter of Texas, Kaiir Elam of Florida, Woodi Washington and Adonis Otey of Tennessee, and Marquis Wilson of Connecticut, as well as 3-star prospects MJ Devonshire of Pennsylvania and John Dixon of Florida are all realistic options, as well.
THE TELLER Keeping with the theme, Ohio State also extended a scholarship offer on Monday night to Houston Dekaney three-star cornerback Marcus Banks. The 6-foot, 170-pound Banks is considered the 36th-best cornerback and No. 398 prospect overall in the Class of 2019, as he recorded 28 tackles and eight pass break ups for the Wildcats last season. He holds more than 20 offers from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Stanford, Texas and Texas A&M.
