    Jalon Jones – Maryland – No. 10 Dual-threat QB

Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances quarterback Jalon Jones visited Ohio State for the first time on the first weekend of March, when he landed his offer from the Buckeyes, and has promptly set a return visit for March 29. Jones grew up as a big fan of Urban Meyer and his Florida teams and he’s highly considered both the Gators and Buckeyes, as well as N.C. State and some other programs.

Jones is a quarterback that I feel Ohio State could absolutely land if they pushed for his commitment, although Florida is a team to watch. Jones’ reciprocated interest in Ohio State with two unofficial visits — and likely an official visit down the road — is a strong point in the Buckeyes’ favors. Ohio State will have received the only two unofficial visits from Jones in the last nine months.

    ANOTHER ONE OFF THE BOARD
For the second time in as many days, an Ohio State quarterback target pledge his services elsewhere.

First, it was Texas four-star Grant Tisdale who committed to Ole Miss on Friday afternoon. Then, on Saturday, Baltimore St. Frances Academy three-star Jalon Jones announced his pledge to Florida.

The 6-foot-3, 180-pound Jones is considered the 10th-best dual-threat quarterback and No. 436 prospect overall in the Class of 2019, as he threw for 1,162 yards and 10 touchdowns and rushed for 1,087 yards and nine scores to lead the Panthers to the Maryland Association A Conference championship last season. He picked the Gators over more than a dozen other offers from programs such as Alabama, Florida, Michigan State, North Carolina State, UCLA, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Meyer offered Jones a scholarship during an unofficial visit in early March, which instantly put the Buckeyes among his top schools.

"It's an honor to get an offer from coach Meyer," Jones told Eleven Warriors. "I grew up watching the teams he coached at Florida, so that was a big reason I fell in love with football. It's just an honor to get an offer from the school he coaches.

"He's one of the best that has ever coached in college, so just for him to offer me face-to-face meant a lot. I was trying not to get starstruck. Being with him was just an overwhelmingly positive experience for me."

Jones was supposed to make another trip to Columbus last week, but a family emergency changed those plans at the last minute. He was in the process of rescheduling, but I'm not sure if that'll ever happen now that he’s committed to the Gators.

As for Jones’ decision, it doesn’t come as a surprise. He was once committed to head coach Dan Mullen when he was at Mississippi State and is tailor-made for the offense he’ll run in Gainesville.
