2018 VIRGINIA LINEBACKER WANTS TO VISIT OHIO STATE

The country's top-ranked 2018 inside linebacker, Virginia's Teradja Mitchell, apparently is interested in visiting Ohio State this summer.

Mitchell, the 18th-ranked player in his class, was offered by the Buckeyes over a year (May, 2015) but says there's been little contact recently.

"I haven't really been much in contact with them," Mitchell told 11W. "(Luke) Fickell would be the one I'd talk to. I plan on calling soon. I haven't called any coaches due to my busy schedule with school and football but today's my last day of school."

Over the last year, Mitchell has visited Florida State, North Carolina, Virginia Tech and others and says it's the Buckeyes' NFL draft impact that's really caught his eye.

"Fickell develops linebackers," he said. "It is a school that puts players in the draft like its nothing. I'm very interested in the school."

As for the visit he wants to take? He'd like to do that this summer.

"I haven't really planned it out," he added. "I'm going to try to this summer."

Top 2018 LB wanting to see Ohio State

Ohio State defensive coordinator Luke Fickell has been second to none in his development of linebackers in his tenure with the Buckeyes. Producing NFL Draft picks at record pace seems to be in Fickell's DNA and recruits all over the country are taking notice. In particular, the nation's top ranked 2018 inside linebacker, Teradja Mitchell (Virginia Beach, Va. / Bishop Sullivan Catholic) has let it be known that he is interested in making the trek to Columbus and see what the Buckeyes have to offer.

The No.18 player in the 2018 class already has a Buckeye offer, but seems to be wanting to make the relationship stronger. A visit to Ohio State would certainly help this take place. Standing at 6 feet 3 inches and 225 pounds, Mitchell boasts the size that fits the Darron Lee mold perfectly. With over 25 offers already, Mitchell is easily one of the most sought after recruits in the 2018 class, but his interested in Ohio State shows that the Buckeyes have a real chance to be a major player for his services. Look for a visit to happen with Mitchell some time in the near future.

    Mitchell talking to Buckeyes

The country’s top-ranked 2018 inside linebacker, Bishop Sullivan Catholic (Virginia Beach, Va.) 5-star prospect Teradja Mitchell, continues to get to know Ohio State after being offered by the Buckeyes more than a year and a half ago.

“Yes, sir,” Mitchell said when asked if he’s been staying in contact with Ohio State.”I talk to Urban Meyer, (wide receivers coach) Zach Smith and (linebackers coach) Luke Fickell a lot.”

The discussions with Mitchell, a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker and the country’s 28th-ranked player, revolve mostly around whether, or when, he’ll finallymake a visit to Ohio State. In recent months he’s visited Clemson, Georgia, Florida State and West Virginia but has not yet made it to Columbus. He says he’s still trying to make that happen.

“Yes, I’m trying to visit there,” he said. “It looks like November or December.”

Ohio State has just one linebacker committed for 2017 – outside linebacker Antjuan Simmons – and an inside linebacker like Mitchell may be a priority in the 2018 class.

    Visit set for Teradja Mitchell

On Friday we talked about the country’s top-ranked inside linebacker in the 2018 recruiting class, Virginia’s Teradja Mitchell, and his desire to make a trip to Ohio State sometime soon.

It appears that trip is now – finally – solidified. For the first time since being offered by the Buckeyes in May 2015, the 6-foot-2, 225-pound Mitchell will head to Columbus next month.

“I will be visiting Ohio State on Nov. 26 against Michigan,” Mitchell told Landof10.

What’s the Bishop Sullivan Catholic star looking forward to the most about his trip?

“I want to get to know the coaching staff well and hear from some of the players,” he said. “I want to see the atmosphere of the stadium and I’m looking forward to learning about the business program there, and how it helps prepare you for life after football.”

Mitchell is being recruited by Buckeyes linebackers coach Luke Fickell, wide receivers coach Zach Smith (who usually handles Virginia) and occasionally coach Urban Meyer himself.

    TAKES THE CAKE

We saw a number of clever commitments on Wednesday, including a T-shirt troll, the Haka dance and a recruit even landing a helicopter inside his new school's stadium.

But not be outdone, Virginia Beach, Virginia, Bishop Sullivan five-star linebacker Teradja Mitchell used his own birthday cake to reveals his Top 11 schools: Alabama, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, USC and Virginia Tech.

"I included Ohio State because I feel like this is a school that can fully develop me, not only into a great football player, but a man," Mitchell told Eleven Warriors. "They have a great and experienced coaching staff, along with an excellent business program."

The 6-foot-2, 232-pound Mitchell is considered the top-rated linebacker and the No. 27 prospect overall in the Class of 2018. He was on campus for the Nov. 26 double-overtime win over Michigan, and Meyer, wide receivers coach Zach Smith and linebackers coach Bill Davis have stayed in touch ever since.

"We just talk about football and everyday life," Mitchell said. "Great conversations at times."

Mitchell hopes to make it back to campus this spring.
