HARDMAN TALKS UPCOMING VISIT TO OHIO STATE

Tuesday night the news broke that Elberton, Georgia, five-star athlete Mecole Hardman Jr. would be making an official visit to Ohio State this weekend. The visit, Hardman's second official (he made a trip to Michigan on Nov. 28 when the Wolverines hosted the Buckeyes), stems primarily from a developing friendship between he and Austin Mack. The pair got to know each other well last week in San Antonio.

"Austin was a big reason," Hardman told 11W when asked what prompted the seemingly last-minute trip. "I know a lot about Ohio State just from what I've seen."

Hardman, the 21st-ranked 2016 prospect, could play offense or defense in college and says that he wouldn't mind playing both if possible.

"I don't have a preference," Hardman said. "I wouldn't mind playing both and a lot of schools have been recruiting me on both sides of the ball."

Ohio State is one of those schools, and while Hardman recently listed Alabama as his leader, most people seem to think that Georgia is more likely to be his choice. He hasn't scheduled any other official visits besides TCU the weekend of Jan. 22. As he looks towards this trip to Columbus, in the dead of Ohio's winter, he said he's not worried about the cold weather.

"I've got no issue with the cold," Hardman said. "I'm just going to go up there and have a good time."

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Hardman added that he expects to make his final decision on signing day.

    MECOLE HARDMAN, JR. β€’ GEORGIA WIDE RECEIVER/ATHLETE β€’ β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Of all the players visiting this weekend, Hardman, a five-star athlete from Elberton, Georgia, was the least likely to end up a Buckeye come signing day and I don't think that has really changed despite a number of different sources suggesting the visit went great.

Hardman, for his part, didn't waste any time putting his thoughts on the trip into the social media realm.

Although he told 11W last week the cold was not an issue for him, the inclusion of a weather-related comment #makesyouthinkforsure.

As far as Hardman's visit I was told that the Buckeyes feel they've "got a chance," albeit not a great one, to be the choice come signing day. Considering they weren't in Hardman's Top 6 schools on January 1st, that's a pretty good move.

Hardman was scheduled to visit TCU next weekend but will instead make a trip to Alabama, the school he named as his favorite just a few days ago.

    HARDMAN ADDS BUCKEYES TO LIST

In case you missed it earlier today, Ohio State was added to the list of seven remaining schools in the mix for Georgia 2016 five-star athlete Mecole Hardman, Jr.

Sources close to the Buckeyes indicate that they feel they did a good job of selling the program to Hardman during his official visit this past weekend and that they'll be in the mix until signing day for the dynamic athlete. His friendship with Austin Mack and recently-developed relationship with Zach Smith have led the way, and today's addition of Dwayne Haskins, Jr. is another positive step for Ohio State.

Next week, Hardman will visit Alabama, a school that he listed as his leader recently. I think that if Ohio State has a legitimate shot here we'll know more following that visit. To pull off the coup, the Buckeyes will need to knock off the Crimson Tide and Georgia, a tall task for any non-SEC school.

Well, he's fast.. he runs much more physical than his size would lead you to believe. Looks like his vision is pretty decent. How much weight do you guys think his frame can carry? Is he a rb or an Hback? For his size he seems more of a strider than a quick footed shifty guy.

Kind of reminds me of Curtis Samuel.
