    2. Which player will be the first to earn a start?
It's always difficult for a freshman to break into the starting lineup, and when they do it's usually due to an injury or a suspension. However, in each of Urban Meyer's first three seasons in Columbus, at least one freshman has earned a start at some point in the season. In 2012, Tommy Schutt was the first to start, followed by Michael Thomas. In 2013, Joey Bosa ended up stepping in for an injured Adolphus Washington and never left. Dontre Wilson also started a pair of games, and Vonn Bell started once. This past season the only freshman to see the starting lineup was Curtis Samuel. There are no "likely" players to earn a start in this freshman class, but I am going with tight end Rashod Berry, who I could see earning a start when the Buckeyes decide to open a game in a two tight end set. But this assumes he beats out both Marcus Baugh and A.J. Alexander.

    4. Which freshman will become a full-time starter first?
I wish I could go with long snapper Liam McCullough here, but not even Jim Tressel started a long snapper and nobody loved punting more than that guy. This is an incredibly difficult prediction for me to make because I simply have no idea. I think I'm going to go with Rashod Berry again. I sure am putting a lot of eggs in the Berry basket, especially considering he may be a better defensive end than tight end. I also like Dre'Mont Jones here, but Sam Hubbard and Jalyn Holmes and Tyquan Lewis all have a big head start on him. Isaiah Prince could be a pretty good guess as well. The Buckeyes may be replacing two starting tackles in 2016, so his chances will double. What a terrible question.

After not being sure what position either would play, it appears that the duo of Rashod Berry and AJ Alexander will both start their Buckeye careers at tight end.

    Rashod Berry, TE

My first pick for a sleeper on the offensive side of the ball is incoming freshman tight end Rashod Berry. Berry was a later addition to the recruiting class, ranked a three-star recruit, and could possibly play at defensive end. Berry intrigues me for these reasons — Nick Vannett will return as the projected starter, with Marcus Baugh the likely backup at the position. Considering the frequency with which Ohio State employs two tight ends, it stands to reason that Berry may get opportunities at tight end, especially in the early portion of the season when Ohio State may be heavy favorites against its opposition. - See more at: http://athlonsports.com/college-foo...e-football-recruits-2015#sthash.iSt4RL5F.dpuf

Interesting that Berry is wearing a red jersey and playing with the offense...

    3. Defensive end Rashod Berry surprised me.

Rashod Berry played defensive end and tight end in high school, and played both pretty well, so the surprise here is not that he switched from tight end to defensive end (especially since I hinted that it could happen back in February), but rather that he played so well once he made the move.

Now, when I say "played so well', let's be clear that he still has a long way to go. But at the beginning of spring when we were watching the team practice for the first time, we were all trying to figure out who this No. 13 was with the defensive line. The only thing we knew was that he was clearly not a walk-on.

Eventually we heard Larry Johnson say "Rashod" while he was drilling, and that's when it all finally clicked. On that day he may as well have been a walk-on, however, because he was bringing up the back of the line in every drill.

Fast-forward to the middle of the spring at the Student Appreciation Day and Berry is looking like a viable rush end, putting pressure on quarterbacks several times during the scrimmaging. Then he did the same thing in the spring game.

I don't know if Berry is going to play much this year. It is going to be difficult to break into a rotation with Sam Hubbard, Tyquan Lewis and Jalyn Holmes, and he will be competing with Darius Slade, Jonathon Cooper and Nick Bosa to get there.

Whether he plays or not is immaterial to this exercise, however, as he was definitely a surprise with his play this spring.
