Does it look like we are gonna offer Elijiah a schollie or have we already? I love this guys stregnth and effert (Kennith Faried). He's what we need a scappy 6'8.5 PF with a nasty attitude but i know that we are really thin on available scholarships. If he doesnt come to OSU, i would prefer he go to W. Virginia and play for Huggy Bear instead of landing somewhere else in the B1G. He reminds me of a Michigan State player for some reason.

I would like him to come to OSU, but it's really not a position of need; with a lack of schollies and potential academic issues/ I could really see him ending up at Xavier, Dayton, or Cincy.

Oh well, the Thad Matta train will roll on with or without Elijiah!

It's kind of a possition of need, we have some young guards and we are stacked for the next 5 years at the wing, but with Sully and Thomas possibly leaving ater next season, that will leave us pretty thin in the post. I have trust in Matta's decision not to offer him yet. He either has academic issues, or Matta probably thinks he can land a couple better big men than Macon in the next few recruiting classes. Tony Parker would be nice..... isnt it nice to be able to recruit nationally now, instead of just relying on in-state talent!

If there's no academic issues with this kid, Thad Matta has got to go after him as hard as he can. He's strong, intense, and plays hard on defense. His hustle is just what Matta loves.

    Gottagetthiskid!

Thad Matta has to get on recruiting Elijah Macon. This is the type of player that helps a team win by his hustle, defense, and intensity. After watching highlights of Macon, there's no doubt in my mind that he's a OSU talent. He reminds me of Kennith Faried.

We are thin on schollies right now but Matta - GO GET THIS KID!

Elijah Macon Transfers to Huntington Prep

    By Alex Kline

Elijah Macon, a 2012 6-foot-8 power forward, is transferring out of Marion Franklin in Ohio for his senior season. The Ohio native will spend a year at prep school to get his grades right before he heads off to college.

Macon will prep at Huntington Prep in West Virginia. I will be leaving for Columbus to play at Huntington Prep for my senior season, he said. I am transferring to Huntington Prep to improve my grades and better myself as a serious basketball player who wants to make something out of himself.

The talented forward from All Ohio-Red was committed to West Virginia during his freshman year until he re-opened his recruitment. Currently, Maryland, Miami (FL) and Florida are recruiting him the hardest, while the Mountaineers are still very interested.

We are very excited to have Elijah as part of the Huntington Prep family, he said coach Rob Fulford. We love his ability to defend multiple positions, rebound and that he can score in a variety of ways. It's going to be a fun year in Huntington.

MARYLAND OFFICIAL VISIT THE PLAN FOR ELIJAH MACON

If you are looking for a big man to rebound and defend in your Class of 2012 recruiting efforts, 6-foot-9 power forward Elijah Macon could be your man. Yes, he can also finish around the cup and is by no means a major weakness offensively, but his offensive skill set down low is still developing. However, what Macon does do quite well is rebound and defend, two things that are very important. A well built post player with a strong frame, Macon, for the most part, understands his strengths and weaknesses and does not force things. He plays solid interior defense and is an overall sound player who does a lot of the little things.

Miami, West Virginia, Iowa, South Florida, Cincinnati, Xavier, USC and Dayton were the offers listed by Macon this past weekend while playing in the AAU National Championships for the All-Ohio Red program in Orlando. He also mentioned Memphis, Maryland, Georgetown, Kansas and Florida, noting that he has more offers and interest.

No, I don't really have a favorite, Macon said. I'm gonna make my top five schools at the beginning of my senior year at Huntington Prep.

Macon said that Maryland, Miami, Florida, West Virginia and Iowa are the schools coming at him the hardest. Thus far Macon has taken trips to Xavier, Cincinnati, West Virginia and USC.

For my officials I'll probably take one to Maryland, Macon said. Right now that's the only one I have lined up to take an official to. I'd probably take one to Iowa too, but Maryland is the only one I know [about] for sure.

Macon is transferring from Marion-Franklin (OH) to Huntington Prep (WV) for his senior year and talked about that decision.

I was supposed to go last year, but me and my mom decided to stay in Columbus and go there for my senior . . . so it will prepare me better for college.

Well, with Macon transferring out of central Ohio and into West Virginia, I think that pretty much closes the books on Elijah coming to OSU IMO.

He was previosly committed to West Virginia, so with him moving there for his Sr. season in HS, I would say he's most likely down to West Virginia or Maryland. He also has interest in Iowa.......

    Re-Verballed to West Virginia......

I really wanted Matta to go after this kid. He plays hard on both ends of the court and he thinks every rebound is his. He really reminds me of Kennith Farreid with his style of play. Plus, we've been looking for a F/C in this class and he's a local C-bus kid.....

Marta has proven that he knows what he doing with recruiting so I will trust his judgement on this one.....

    Macon to West Virginia
By Adam Zagoria on September 24, 2011

The Big East added two commitments on Friday.

Elijah Macon, 6-foot-9, 230-pound power forward from Huntington (W.Va.) Prep, committed to West Virginia for the second time, doing so during an official visit to the school. A Columbus, Ohio native, Macon previously committed to the Mounties in the fall of 2009.

"It's just the perfect place for me. They have everything I need plus a hall of fame coach that will make me a better player," Macon, the Rivals No. 18 power forward in the Class of 2012, told WVSports.com via text message.

Macon also held offers from Tennessee, USC, Pittsburgh, Maryland and Kansas State, but was down to West Virginia Pitt.
