    AAU: All Iowa Attack
    Ht:7'0"
    Wt:230 lbs
    Class:2012 (High School)

    Strengths:
Woodbury is a skilled lefty post that plays with great energy and urgency on both ends of the floor. He's a block-to-block post player. Offensively, he gets his buckets inside 10 feet. He can look a little awkward at times but he is effective. He has decent touch inside and is a decent rebounder. He is also a terrific passer with great touch and feel for where to place the ball. It is a great asset to be a great passer at seven feet tall because he will always be able to see over the defense.

    Weaknesses:
For a big man, he doesn't finish all that well inside. He needs to also improve the range on his shot. He doesn't possess great mobility and definitely needs to improve defensively, especially guarding the lane and the basket.

    Bottom Line:
He is a midwest priority at the highest level. He doesn't have a ton of upside but he will have a better than solid college career.

He is a fundamentally sound big man who knows his role and plays it to the fullest. The lefty can score in the low post when given time and space, is an excellent passer and maybe the best ball mover in the class. Woodbury does not wow you, he just makes plays and wins. He can face up and shoot to 17 feet, but he is best on the low block when scoring over his right shoulder.

Woodbury garners MVP honors at NBPA Top 100 camp

    The Catch-Up
    - Travis Hines

If there was ever a time for a college program to buy low on Sioux City East big man Adam Woodbury, that window has almost certainly closed.

The seven-footer was named the MVP of the National Basketball Players Assocation Top 100 camp Saturday.

Woodbury had 20 points in the title game to help his team to the championship while also drawing rave reviews from scouts.

ESPN’s Dave Telep called Woodbury’s game a “sensational performance†before giving the Class of 2012 center a glowing review on ESPN.com.

    Telep writes:

"He is a fundamentally sound big man who knows his role and plays it to the fullest. The lefty can score in the low post when given time and space, is an excellent passer and maybe the best ball mover in the class. Woodbury does not wow you, he just makes plays and wins. He can face up and shoot to 17 feet, but he is best on the low block when scoring over his right shoulder."

Scout.com scribe Evan Daniels tweeted that Woodbury had a “Big week and terrific championship game performance. He’s on the rise.â€

Jeff Borzello of CBS Sports called Woodbury a top-50 player.

So, yeah, it’s fair to say Adam Woodbury had a pretty good weekend, methinks.

According to Rivals, Woodbury boasts scholarship offers from California, Nebraska, Stanford, Virginia, Xavier and the home-state Hawkeyes after averaging 18.5 points on 64.5 percent shooting and 12.4 rebounds per game.

He’s also drawn interest from North Carolina, Ohio State and Kansas, Rivals reports.

While covering the state tournament in March, I was told by someone in the SC East program that Woodbury was favoring Iowa at that time, but in the world of basketball recruiting, a lot can change in three months.

Like having a standout performance at one of the summer’s elite camps.

Woodbury was already a nationally-known player, but being able to go up against some of the country’s best players and have the word dominating thrown around will likely take things to another level.

    Woodbury's no one-hit wonder

One of the big questions I had coming into the month was could Adam Woodbury (Sioux City, Iowa/East) replicate his NBPA Top 100 Camp effort? He may not, but he's taken the next step. Woodbury achieved the ultimate camp compliment when teammates -- and this is revolutionary -- actually passed him the basketball in the post!

The single biggest change I've seen is the way Woodbury sees himself. Now that he has the NBPA MVP trophy above his TV at home (true story), he's more confident in his game, himself and his shots.

Recruiting wise, Woodbury fesses up that Iowa has been on him the longest; Hawkeyes coach Fran McCaffery wouldn't let him out of his sights on Thursday. Stanford, Minnesota and Ohio State are big time in the mix as well; each had their head coaches at LeBron James Skills Academy. Duke, Kansas, North Carolina and Wisconsin are also looking.

Peach Jam Day 2: Tubby target Woodbury says Gophers high on list
Posted by: Myron P. Medcalf under College basketball, Gophers players, Tubby Smith Updated: July 13, 2011

North Augusta, S.C. - Adam Woodbury, a Sioux City, Iowa, prep, struggled on the first day of the Peach Jam tournament Tuesday. But he played a more physical brand of basketball Wednesday.

Woodbury, a 7-1 prospect in the 2012 class, scored nine points and grabbed eight rebounds in All Iowa Attack's 69-64 victory over Howard Pulley. He followed that performance with 14 points and eight boards in an 82-78 loss to Mac Irvin Fire (Illinois).

He's one of the top targets on Minnesota's 2012 wish list. Woodbury said the Gophers are among the favorites for his services.

"Tubby's a great guy. I have a lot of respect for him. They're definitely up there on my list," he said.

Woodbury currently has offers from Ohio State, Xavier, Wisconsin, California and Minnesota, according to Rivals.com. His MVP performance at the NBPA Top 100 camp in Virginia last month planted him on the radar of some of the top programs in America.

He said he will choose a school before the start of his senior season at East High School in Sioux City, Iowa.

This kid might be my favorite prospect in the 2012 class. I would love to see Matta get Tony Parker locked up first, and then make Woodbury priority #2 right behind Parker.

It's looking like this class will be no bigger than 2 at the very most. It's also more than likely to contain a couple bigs, atleast one for sure. This kid is a scrapper. Tough, hard nosed player with an attitude on the court. He could be our post version of Aaron Craft. Love the kid.....

I love the way this kid plays the game. If we could pull him out of Iowa, that would he huge. I thought he was heading to Iowa for sure but his recruitment is really blowing up right now. Hard to get a read on him right now.

Woodbury and Parker would be great.

Woodbury reminds me of Rick Smits. I think Smitty was 7'4" though and Woody's about 7'1" right now.

Iowa coach Fran McCaffery landed a difference-maker Wednesday when a local product, center Adam Woodbury, committed to the Hawkeyes over North Carolina.

The 6-foot-11, 225-pound ESPNU 100 big man has been a priority for McCaffery since he took over the program two years ago. He has not missed one of Woodbury's games over the past two July recruiting periods and will make the future pro prospect from Sioux City, Iowa, the face of the program.

I'm glad Woodbury committed to Iowa instead of UNC.....

Keep that talent in the B1G and out of the ACC.....

Iowa is putting together a really solid core of players, they should be a 20 win team within a couple years but not a contender for the B1G....

I think Woodbury to Iowa is a bigger pick-up for them than Zeller to Indiana from the '11 class.

By the way, Indiana is back. The recruits that they have for the '11, '12, & '13 classes are enough to put them back in the top tier of the B1G. I hate Hoosier basketball so it will be nice to have that rivalry back. Let's just hope that Crean coaches talent as bad as Bruce Webber does.
