i was just sitting here thinking but if things turned out bad this year and Tressell is let go(hope not). who would you guys like to see the Buckeyes go after? Do you go after someone with Ohio roots? Maybe a Bo Pelini or even Dantonio from MSU. What do you guys think?
I think Tress would still have his job if he loses the remainder of the season... but, a lot of people have said that Fickel will get a look if he is still with the program when Tress steps down.
Dude, Tressel is going to be around for a while. Unless he loses the rest of this season or goes belly up, you can guarntee the sweater vest to patrol the sidelines for a while
Tressel won't be fired... nor should he. He leaves on his terms. But for sake of argument for this thread I can't see Pelini or Dantonio coming here because Pelini just took the Nebraska job and Dantonio is building in MSU. Maybe I'm wrong...
i give tressel 5 years. he has said that he would like to become a athletic director at the college level. but if there was a coach i would go after it's bo pelini. defensive minded coach that knows the traditions of ohio st and the how important the michigan game is.
Maybe Tress doesn't get fired and gets offered our AD position eventually? I could see that happening. If that were the case it'd probably be Fickel..
Yeah, I understand what you meant to say, completely hypothetical and just for fun, I don't think anyone under their right mind wants Tress gone or thinks he will get fired, the guy is one of the best coaches in college football regardless of what people think about his passive approach.

Come on guys. No one wants JT fired. This topic is completely hypothetical. To make it easier just pretend that after the end of this football season JT vanished with no trace.. Who would you want to take over? Personally I like Bo Pelini or ever Shiano from Rutgers or Brian Kelly.
My post was all in good humor! But in a larger picture there are Buckeye fans who think JT should be fired or is overrated. Those fans need to take a tranquilizer!!
I was joking with a Buckeye friend of mine during the first game against Navy this year, he's a professor at Florida (Yes, alot of my friends come home for the kick off, and I love it! That's Buckeye Nation!) Any way he jokes and I kind of agreed, Florida is just keeping our next coach busy until Tress decides to go! LOL! On another note, in years past I have read JT stating he'll stay until he is fired. I feel this is totally being realistic. Their isn't anyone that can "lure" him away, it's all down hill from tOSU, really, I'm not bragging (ok, maybe a bit) but the top programs in the country really don't go after the others head coaches. So JT's ceiling has been reached, along with many coaches before him. Look at it, Cooper, fired, Bruce fired, Woody, Fired. It's almost an unwritten rule, to be the best, you'll put up with the extreme pressure, positives and negatives and in the end, if you have done all of this, all while being successful, ultimately, in the end, you'll be fired. JT embraces this and is a true Buckeye, almost born to be our coach. I think our next coach, who is just dying to be the next one, should understand this, if not then we'll have trouble. -GO BUCKS! -Jim
