They have a very good secondary. Offense is a little green.

 

From what I saw in the video Hollis posted VT looks fast on the edges. The OT's will have a tough challenge.

 

I believe this will be our biggest challenge against VT. Baldwin looked slow against speedier Navy DE's and was constantly getting beat. I expect to see a lot of blocking help from either the RB or lining up the TE on his side. If VT gets constant pressure from the edges, it will greatly disrupt our ability to have a consistent downfield passing game.

 

Agree with the assessment,OL a big concern and VT D front very good,we have to throw short passes very quick or JT will be in deep poop,.his game is no walk in the park.

 

I guarantee Bud Foster and the VT secondary saw how close JT came to throwing a pick-6 on a screen Saturday... and are licking their chops.

 

Last week we ran a screen first play. VT will be very aggressive coming out. I hope to see that fake screen and go deep first play. The one that Kenny G hit for 90 yards agains Cal last year.

 

I would say that's a 1,000,000% lock to happen...

 

I havn't re-watched that play yet, but somebody had to have missed a block...unless there was an overload on that side of the ball, which JT should've checked off of...

That's why Spencer gets so much PT because he's so good blocking out in space on those screens...

My prediction for this game:

Ohio State will dominate defensively. The DLine will be all over the VT QB and will have 5+ sacks. Because of the constant pressure, VT will turn the ball over at least twice in its own territory leading to quick Ohio State touchdowns.

The Ohio State offense will get off to a fast start but will struggle for the rest of the game. But because the defense is so dominant, the early explosion will be enough.

With the way our o-line looked... if we get a two score lead, we go into Tressel-mode.

 

That would not be a bad idea. Like I’ve said, Bud Foster will be very aggressive against our OLine. Look for some screens and draw plays up the middle to keep them from pinning their ears back.

 

Similar to last week: Both teams start slow on offense, but Buckeyes pull ahead in the second half and don't look back

Not sure it matters but Rod Smith listed above Curtis Samuel on the "or" list of RBs doesn't excite me.

Vonn Bell and Tyvis Powell will be a good pair to watch. Agree with Lifetime above - glad to see Vonn get the nod over Burrows this week.

 

^I just was not impressed with Burrows at all, he was out of position quite a bit, and he took some bad angles (Just my opinion). Yeah, the whole OR thing on the depth chart is stupid. I feel like RB should be: 1 Eze, 2 Samuel

In this case, I completely agree...

Burrows will be good in the future, and is a very solid back-up right now, but Vonn Bell is a play maker and needs to stay on the field IMO...

 

Thought Rod ran very hard for the few carries he got. I'm rooting for him. I think we will have a committee all year long though.
