Ryan Day is the outsider Ohio State football needs as its new coach, writes @Chip_Pattersonhttps://t.co/Xb6WfZXWJ6— Cover 3 Podcast (@Cover3Podcast) December 4, 2018
I'm all for it. He did awesome as the interim HC, the team seems to love him, and if Dwayne Haskins development is any indication of how well he can do with bringing the potential of young men to fruition... we're not hurting for our future at all... I think the emergence of a related rumor says it all...
I'm really eager to see the changes Day makes to the staff. My guess is there will be two, three max. I don't think he will want to see too much change year one. I think he knows that if he loses two or more games, the noise could get pretty loud. I am certain Billy Davis is gone. There are two candidates out there that I'd love to see him pursue. DJ Durkin and Marcus Freeman. Both Ohio guys and I wouldn't see any issues getting either. The only other move I think will happen is Schiano. Remember, Meyer and Saban both really wanted Grinch on their staff. I have to believe that Grinch and Schiano were not working in unison and that caused some issues. The Safety play was not as much of an issue once White became the starter. I'd like to see what Grinch could do running the defense. As for the open spot once Schiano leaves, I'd like to see Day bring a young DL coach in that Larry Johnson can mentor. I'd love nothing more that John Simon to that guy! I think he'd be a helluva college coach. But I doubt that happens, at least not before Larry retires.
Ryan Day says it didn't take long for him to realize what it meant to be a part of Ohio State: "No. 1, win the rivalry game. And No. 2, win every game after that."— Garrett Stepien (@GarrettStepien) December 4, 2018

Ryan Day's dream of becoming Ohio State's head coach began on his grandfather's couch, where he watched the Buckeyes' annual rivalry game with Michigan as a kid. https://t.co/6d8bciDcsG— Eleven Warriors (@11W) December 5, 2018

Talked to Ryan Day's head coach at New Hampshire, Sean McDonnell, on Day back in August. He said at the time: “Ryan’s a smart kid, hard-working, understands the game, and you knew that sooner or later he’s going to have an opportunity to be a head coach.” https://t.co/ZOZ8PFcr5o— Dan Hope (@Dan_Hope) December 5, 2018
Ryan Day not only discussed how important recruiting is as Ohio State's new head coach, but he went further with his message to Ohio high schools. Those words resonated with two of Ohio's top head coaches, who have ties to the Buckeyes. https://t.co/AqiLz6JvNn via @Buckeye_Sports— Garrett Stepien (@GarrettStepien) December 5, 2018
Who is Ryan Day, the recruiter? New #OhioState coach Ryan Day has an impressive history on the recruiting front. @JoshHelmholdt has this in-depth profile: https://t.co/QDwOMNsMpo pic.twitter.com/69eBOoR1Gi— Rivals (@Rivals) December 7, 2018
I’m optimistic about the direction of the program. Day has learned from three of the most brilliant offensive minds in the game’s history, Urban, Chip, and Kevin Wilson. He is set up with great talent on the team next year. If he can close the ‘19 class well, and get a top 3 class in ‘20, Ohio State could be looking at a similar 7 years as it just had. Oh, and that Saban guy will be retiring soon.

ICYMI: Just as he did in his move of Chris Holtmann for Thad Matta, Gene Smith's promotion of Ryan Day for Urban Meyer prioritized recruiting at Ohio State once again with the Buckeyes entering an enormous official visit weekend. https://t.co/FyzJpWEVwb via @Buckeye_Sports— Garrett Stepien (@GarrettStepien) December 8, 2018
Ohio State football | In-house hire of Ryan Day became best option to replace Urban Meyer https://t.co/GEY1cDDm7m— BuckeyeXtra.com (@BuckeyeXtra) December 8, 2018
I don't agree this could be a distraction as I am sure Urban will step away for awhile and keep a low profile initially..... Rob Oller's commentary | Things may be awkward for Ryan Day with Urban Meyer nearby https://t.co/AWwToFbOz6— BuckeyeXtra.com (@BuckeyeXtra) December 9, 2018
